  Edward A. Carney, Jr., 52, of 403 North Lake St., was pronounced dead on arrival at the Oneida City 
Hospital last evening. He had been ill for several months. 
 
  Born in Meridian Nov. 5, 1921, he was the son of Edward A. and Emma Lefever Carney. He had been a 
resident of Oneida for the past 29 years, moving here from Chittenango Falls. He married the former 
Cherry Bodley at Chittenango on March 10, 1944. 
 
  Mr. Carney was employed by Oneida Silversmiths, Ltd. 
 
  He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Navy in the Pacific Theater of Operations. 
 
  Mr. Carney was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and Nest 1606, Order of the Owls. An 
active member of Lodge 421, Loyal Order of Moose, he served as Govenor of the local lodge and was a past 
State Prelate, Past Deputy Supreme Govenor, Past District Vice President and was a Legionnaire Fellow 
and Pilgrim. He was also a member of the City of Oneida Water Board, Post 230, Sherrill American Legion 
and the Community Associated Clubs. 
 
  Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Steven of Petaluma, Calif. and Mark Carney, at home; two 
daughters, Mrs. Joanne Parmeter, Oneida and Mrs. Rene (Elaine) Lewis, Wellsville; his father, Edward A. 
Carney, Cleveland, O.; one brother, Donald H. Carney, Brooklyn; and four grandchildren.
