Anson E. Hurd
Anson E. Hurd, 75, 263 Middle Road, died Tuesday afternoon, August 11, 1998,
at his residence, following an extended illness.
He was born on November 22, 1922, in Oneida, the son of William and Nellie
Whitmoyer Hurd.
A lifelong resident of Oneida, he was educated in the Oneida schools.
He married Anetta Meyers on December 22, 1956, in Montrose, Pa. Mrs. Hurd
died on March 30, 1987.
Prior to his retirement in 1984 with 41 years of service, Mr. Hurd was employed
with Oneida Ltd., as a pattern and toolmaker.
Mr. Hurd had previously been employed with the National Casket Company,
formerly of Oneida,and was a teamaster for local farmers and was, at one time,
associated with the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Mr. Hurd was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Oneida, the
Oneida Ltd. Retirement Club, the Community Associated Clubs and was a life
member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Oneida Lodge No.421.
Mr. Hurd was a veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps
in the European and Pacific Theaters.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Lance A.and Darlene Hurd of Perry-
ville; two daughters and one son-in-law, Deborah A. Smoyer of Sherrill and
Wanda M. and Charles VanLuvanee of Canastota; one half brother, Joseph
Medbury of Tampa, Fl.; seven grandchildren, Jason Rauscher, Joshua Rauscher,
Melissa VanDusen Michele Riggs, Jessica Smoyer, BrianHurd and Sarah Hurd;
one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
