Samuel Francis West
Samuel Francis WEST, was born Salvadori Francesco Vasta, 20 May 1897 in Sicily, the son of Fransico and Nina(Guarddala) Vasta. Samuel came to Livonia,Livingston County, New York from Italy with his father's family when he was about 10 years of age. After prohibition Samuel hauled the first truckload of beer out of Rochester and founded the company in Lakeville which became one of the largest beer distributorship in the area. About 1925, he married Josephine Vallone, daughter of Anthonio and Christina(Guarino) Vallone, of Cherda,Sicily,Italy. Samuel was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Livonia Center and the Holy Name Society of that church. He was also a charter member of Conesus Lake Sportsmen's Club, a member of the Livonia Fire Department, the Conesus Lake Cottagers Association, the Livonia Chapter of the United Commercial Travelers, and a charter member of the New York State Wholesale Beer Distributers Association. Samuel died 08 Aug 1971 and is buried at the St. Michael Cemetery in Livonia,NY.
