Capt. Giles Wolcott was born 16 July 1734 in Middletown, CT, and died 8 June 1819 in Geneseo, Livingston county, NY. He married Sybil Alden 18 July 1779, Bennington VT.
Capt. Wolcott served during the French and Indian War under Major General Phineas Lyman. He was a Captain of the 9th Co., 1st CT Regiment. Paymaster, northern division, Col. Seth Warner's Continental Regiment, VT. Applied 1818 for pension at Geneseo, NY. Captain Wolcott's annual pension allowance was $240.00 of which he received a total of $285.24 before his death.
Giles' son, Augustus Wolcott, was a physician who also settled in Geneseo. Giles' wife, Sybil, was born in CT and died 1804 in VT. Naomi Wolcott (probably a cousin) married, 1 Oct 1804, James Wadsworth, a wealthy early settler of Geneseo.
