The Johannes Hardenbergh Chapter, NSDAR was officially recognized as the 181st chapter in New York State on Friday, January 30, 1976. It was the first New York State Chapter to organize during America's bicentennial year. Mrs. Joseph P. Vecchiarelli, New York State Organizing Secretary, presided at the organizational meeting held at the home of Mrs. Leona Decker of Lexington. Of the 16 charter members, 10 women remain active members in good standing.
The Chapter celebrated its 25th anniversary on June 2, 2001. The New York State Regent, Mrs. Caesar B. Pattarini, was the guest speaker. Her subject was "The Daughters in the 21st Century."
The Chapter meets the third Wednesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the Lexington Methodist Church Hall.
