Last Will and Testament of Jacob J. Clow

In the name of God, amen! I, Jacob J. Clow, of the town of Athens, in the County of Greene, and State of New York, being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, do hereby make and declare this to be my last will and testament as follows, to wit: First – I will and direct that all my just and legal debts and funeral charges be paid by my executors hereinafter named. Item – I give and bequeath to my daughter Rachel, the sum of four hundred dollars, ($400,) to be paid to her within one year after my decease. Item – I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Rachel the one equal undivided half part or moiety[sp?] of all my household furniture, beds, bedsteads, bedding, chairs and other furniture of every description. Item – I give and bequeath unto my three daughters Eleanor-wife of William Wells- Sarah Ann-wife of Charles Armstrong- and Catharine-wife of John H. Smith- each the sum of ten dollars, to be paid to each of them within one year after my decease. Item – I give and bequeath unto my sons John and Aaron, each the sum of ten dollars, to be paid to each of them within one year after my decease. Item – I give devise and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects both real and personal, not herein otherwise disposed of – after payment of my debts, legacies and funeral charges – to my son Jacob Clow; and Lastly, I do hereby nominate and appoint my said son Jacob Clow and John J. Vosburgh, of the town of Athens, executors of this my last will and testament, and hereby revoke all and every former will by me made. In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of January, eighteen hundred and sixty one.
