This may certify that we the subscribers have been elected Deacons of the Church and Congregation of Durham and as such have officiated for the year last past, that we had attend at the place of public worship the three last Sabbaths immediately proceeding this Election and on each of the said Sundays the Reverend Jesse Townsend Minister of the said Church & congregation gave public Notice that a meeting of the Members of the said Society would be held a the meeting house in said Durham on this day to chose Trustees for the purpose of incorporating the said Society that we the said Deacons attended the said meeting and by a plurality of voices were chosen to superintend the said meeting and to receive the votes of the members present And we do further Certify that David Baldwin, Bill Torry?, Moses Austin, Francis Wilcox, Lemuel Hotchkiss & Daniel Brown Jun was by a plurality of voices Elected trustees for the said Society, by the name of the Trustees of the first Presbyterian Society in Durham in the county of Greene and the said meeting did further resolve that the said Trustees should immediately proceed to have the said Society incorporated agreeable to the law passed on 27th day of March 1801 entitled an Act to provide for the incorporation of Religious Societies." Given under our hand and seal at Durham this 9th day of March 1807.

Be it remembered that on the ninth day of March in the year of our Lord
one thousand Eight hundred and seven
Before me Thomas E. Barker one of the Judges of the Court of Common pleas
for the County of Greene
appeared Jehiel Cooley and Curtis Baldwin both to me known who being duly sworn deposed and said that they were both present
& saw Benjamin
Chapman & Jonathan
Baldwin sign the written instrument and
heard them say that they executed the same for the uses and purpose therein
mentioned and that these deponents signed the same as Witnesses thereto and finding no material alterations except the
word fine entered in the Margin and the word Society in the
same line written on Erazure & the word in the same line Between the word Society and in obliterated , do
allow the same to be Recorded. Thos.
