To all whom
these presents may come & whose names and Seals are affixed to this
instrument do hereby certify that one the 9th day of May in theyear one thousand eight hundred fifty three, the male persons of full age
worshipping in the building formerly occupied by the Baptist Society and owned
by Ambrose Baker in the town of Coxsackie State of New Yorkin which congregation divine worship celebrated according to the rites of
the Protestant Episcopal Church in the State of New York and not already
incorporated, met at the place of worship aforesaid for the purpose of
incorporating themselves as a religious Society under the acts of the
Legislature of the State of New York and inpursuance ofNotice duly given to the said congregation in the time of
Morning service on two Sundays previous to such meeting that the male persons of
full age belonging to said Congregation would meet at the time and place
aforesaid, for the purpose of incorporating themselves and Electing two church
Wardens and eight Vestryman, and we further Certify that theRev. Jonathan Coe, Missionary at Athens and Coxsackie
presided at said meeting and we further Certify that at the said meeting Henry
B. Peck and Abraham H. Knapp were duly Elected Wardens of the said Congregation
and Church and Henry Green, Frederick G. Deming, Edwin W. Baker, William Burt,
Lucius F. Botsford, & Wm. Stevens, Olney F. Wright and Frederick W. Hoffman
were duly Elected Vestrymen; that Monday of Ester week was by the said meeting
fixed on as the day on which the said officers of church Wardens and Vestrymen
Should annuallythereafter cease
and their successors in office be chosen; and that the said meeting determined
and declared that the said church and Congregation should be know in law by the
name of the Rector Church Wardens and Vestrymen of Christ Church in the town of
Coxsackie in the County of GreenIn
testimony where of we the saidJonathan
Coe who presided at the said releation of Wardens and Vestrymen and Henry Green
and Frederick W. Hoffman who were present and witnessed the proceedings
aforesaid have hereunto Subscribed our names and affixed our Seals their 16th
day of May in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and fifty three.
