The male
members of full age of The African Methodist Episcopal Church of Catskill,
assembled at the place where they statedly attend for Divine worship in
Catskill, Greene County, N Y on this 22nd day of March 1869 and by
plurality of votes elected as Trustees of said church the following discreet
persons as and for the Trustees of said Church, to take the charge of the estate
of property belonging there to & to transact all affairs relating to the
temporalities there of.Viz:John Comitier, John Goetchius, Francis Hallenbeck, Jasper Jackson,
Henry Robertsen, James L. Wheeler, Lion B. W. Freeman, Samuel Perse &
Nelson Benton. Before proceedingto such election there being no Elders or Wardens of said
church.James Wheeler & Henry
Robertsen two of the members of said Church were nominated by a majority of the
members present to preside at such meeting and election as provided by statute,and we the undersigned James Wheeler & Henry Robertsen, so elected to
preside at such election did preside at such election, receive the votes of the
Electors and Judged of the qualifications of the Electors andthat the above named persons were elected Trustees as above stated. We
further certifythat the minister
of said Church being absent & there being Elders or Deacons, Wardens or
Vestryman of said Church, a member of said Church publicly notified the
congregation of said Church of the time when & the place where such Election
would be held, fifteen days before the day of holding such Election, which
notice was given for two successive Sabbaths, in which such Church statedly met
for public worship preceeding the day of such election, and that such Election
was held at the time and place mentioned in such notice.
The said Trustees& their successors in office shall forever hereafter be
called & Known by the name of "The Trustees of African Methodist Episcopal
Church of Catskill.”In Witness

set our hands and seals the Twenty-second day of Marchone thousand Eight hundred & Sixty nine.
