At a meeting of the inhabitants of the Village of New Baltimore, held on the 12 Inst January 1833, The Subject of building a house for the worship of Almighty God was considered and the following Resolutions with their Preamble were unanimously adopted.

 

Whereas the Village of New Baltimore, with its vicinity, has hitherto been destitute of the regular administration of the ordinances of God, and the Stated means which he has ordained for the Salvation of Sinners, and we feel desirous, that ourselves and our families Should enjoy these means, in common with our fellow Christians, for our Spiritual and moral cultures

Therefore Resolved

1.         That a house for the worship of Almighty God be erected in the Village of New Baltimore, on a site designated by the building committee, as soon as may be, and that such house when completed, be known and distinguished, by the name of the Reformed Dutch Church of New Baltimore.

2.         When this building is completed, it shall be dedicated by the Corporate title just named, and be under the government of a Consistory of its own, to be selected out of the members of New Baltimore, who are not in actual Service in any other Church.  The whole subordinate to the Classis of Albany within whose bounds we reside, and with them be directed in our future conduct by the word of God and the Constitution of the Reformed Dutch Church.

3.         The contracts for Said building, and the payments of said contracts from the beginning to the completion of Same, be conducted by a committee of three, that Messrs. Joseph Sherman, George Dayton, and Malvin Parsons, be Said committee, and they be empowered, if they deem it necessary to add two more to their number, and that this committee, (when the work now assigned them, be performed Shall render their accounts of Said committee to the Consistory of Said Church—

4.         That the Revd Staats Van Santvoord, who is now employed by this Society as their Pastor, be appointed the Agent, to circulate this Subscription, receive donations and Subscriptions, and be authorized to transact in our behalf all Such business with the Classis of Albany as may be necessary for the organization of Said Congregation.

            Therefore to accomplish this desired object, with Solemn dependence on God, We the Subscribers promise to pay to the order of the Treasurer of Said building Committee, the sums annexed to our respective names in three equal payments, the first when it commences, the Second when it may be needed, the third when the Church is finished.
