We take the liberty of acknowledging the receipt of a piece of the wedding cake, in tolerable good order, considering the roughness of the roads and the distance it found It necessary to travel. The danger of conveyance, without doubt prevented the embarkation of the wine in this new expedition. The receipt of this emblem of peace and plenty put us into such spirits that we at first resolved to take back every word of our remarks in our last; but a little reflection us to treat the event, rather as the commencement of a new era in the annals of our matrimonial community, than any refutation of our former terms of complaint. We take pride now, in showing to the world that there is some generosity yet left in old Greene County. The happy couple will accept our thanks together with the most hearty wish that their future life may be as purely happy and ethereal as the clouds of morning which mingle into each other to reflect undivided the glorious light of the sun and their intercourse as quiet as the streams from the mountain, which unite at its base and pursue their common channel without a murmur across the plain.
