Silas Wright Jun. Esq.
Albany
Sir
Yours of the 6 inst. is received enclosing the account of the state against this county.
When our board of supervisors met last fall, I submitted to them your former letter on the subject of paying the balance due the state, and urged upon them the propriety of raising a sum for that purpose. But nothing was done concerning it, and no funds have come into my hands since my appointment as treasurer for that object.
I will at the next meeting of our board press upon them the absolute necessity of paying this debt, and I have no doubt it will be done.
I am respectfully
Jas. Powers
Treasurer etc.
