Original Bible is in the possession of the gg-granddaughter of Elisha D. Thompson. Copies of the family record courteously provided by Ray Thompson, a gg-grandson to Elisha D. Ray has also provided the following family history:
Elisha's parents were Elisha and Honor (Pratt) Thompson who
came to Jewett from Goshen, CT in 1791. They are buried in the Jewett Cemetery.
Elisha D. was one of four children born to this couple. The other siblings were
Isaac Pratt Thompson, John W. Thompson and Betsey B. Thompson.
Elisha D. married Abigail Howard on April 28, 1822, but it is not known if they
were married in Greene County or Madison County, NY. He is listed in the 1820
census residing in Smithfield, Madison Co. Then is 1845, he and his family
relocated to Watertown, WI, where he died on May 22, 1879. Elisha D.
Thompson was the 4th great grandson of Anthony Thompson, one of the Founders of
the New Haven Colony.
