This indenture made the first day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred forty eight between CONRADT HOUGHTALING and MARY ANNE, his wife of the Town of Coxsackie, county of Greene, State of New York, of the first part and CALTERN BRIGGS of the same place of the second part, Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars lawful money of the United States to them in hand paid by said party of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby confessed and  acknowledged have granted aliened revised and released enfeoffed(?) and confirmed and by these presents do grant alien revise release enfeoff(?) and confirm unto the said parties of the second part and his heirs and assigns forever all that certain piece or parcel of land situate in the town of Coxsackie aforesaid on the north side of the road leading from the Village of Coxsackie, east to what is commonly called the Upper Landing, bounded as follows: south by the above mentioned road. East by land now owned and occupied by ARTHUR WORDEN. South by the lands of AMOS PHEFFER and west by the lands of WALTER S. STOUTENBURGH containing four acres of land more or less as the same was occupied by WIDOW SARAH BUTLER in her lifetime. Together with all and singular the hereditaments and appurtenances there unto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits thereof and all the estate right title interest claim or demand whatsoever of the said parties of the first part either in law or in equity of in and to the said premises with the appurtenances to have and to hold the above mentioned and described premises with the appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever. And the said CONRADT HOUGHTAILING for himself and his heirs executors and administrators doth covenant promise grant bargain and agree to with said party of the second part his heirs and assigns to warrant and forever to defend the above granted premises and every part parcel thereof now being in the quiet peaceable possession of said party of the second part against said parties of the first part their heirs executors and administrators and assigns and against all and every other person or persons claiming or to claim the said premises or any part thereof. In witness whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written
