Bester Dexter purchases land in Cairo from Amos Cornwall
Junior
This Indenture made the first day of September in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty three Between Amos Cornwall
Junior & Elizabeth his wife of the Town of Cairo County of Greene and State
of New York of the first part and Bester Dexter of the same place of the second
part Witnessed that the said
parties of the first part for and inconsideration of the sum of lawful money of the United States of America to them in hand paid
at or before the executing and delivery of these presents by the said party of
the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and the said party of
the second part his heirs executors and administrators forever released and
discharged from the same by these presents have granted bargained sold aliened
remised released conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain
sell alien remise release convey and confirm unto the said party of the second
and to his heirs and assigns forever all that certain piece or parcel of land
lying in the village of Cairo Town aforesaid and bounded as follows viz
Beginning on the south west side of the Susquehanna turnpike road at the corner
of a lot sold by said Cornwall to Samuel
Porter and runs thence south forty five degrees west two chains and eighty eight
links to the top of the bank of the creek then along the top of said bank north
nineteen degrees west fifty links then north forty four degrees east two chains
seventy four links to the side of the aforesaid road then
along the side of said road forty two degrees east thirty two and a half feet to
the place of beginning containing twenty square rods of land be the same more or
less Together with the privilege of
going to and using the water of the creek for all family purposes but not to dam
or obstruct the free course of said waters at any time or for any purpose
Together with all and singular the right members privileges hereditaments
and appurtenances whatsoever unto the said above mentioned and described
premises in any wise as pertaining or belonging
And the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders, rents, issues
and profits thereof And also all
the estate right title interest of the said Amos Cornwall Junior & wife
& property possessions claim and demand whatsoever as well at law as in
equity of the said parties of the first part of in and to the same and every
part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances
To have and to hold the above granted bargained and described premises
and every part and parcel thereof with the hereditaments and appurtenances unto
the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns to their own proper use
benefit and behoof forever And the
said Amos Cornwall Jr for himself and his heirs executors and administrators
does covenant grant promise and agree to and with the said party of the second
part his heirs and assigns that he the said Amos at the time of the sealing and
delivery of these presents is lawfully seized of a good absolute and
indefeasible estate of inheritance in fee simple of and all and singular the
above granted bargained and described premises with the appurtenances
And has good right full power and lawful authority to grand bargain sell
and convey the same in manner and form aforesaid And that the said party of the second part his heirs and
assigns shall and may at all times peaceably and quietly have hold use occupy
posses and enjoy the above the above granted, premises and every part and parcel
thereof with hereditaments and appurtenances without any let suit trouble,
molestation, eviction, or disturbance of the said parties of the first part his
heirs and assigns or of any other person or persons whatsoever
And that the same now are free clear discharged and unencumbered of and
from all former and other grants, titles, charges, estates, judgments, taxes
assessments and encumbrances of what nature or kind and also that the said
parties of the first part their heirs and all and every other person or persons
whatsoever lawfully or equitable deriving any estate right title or interest of
in or to the herein before granted premises by, from, under or in trust for them
shall and will at any time a times hereafter upon the reasonable request and at
the proper cost and charges in the law of the said party of the second party his
heirs and assigns make do and execute or cause or procure to be made done and
executed all any every such further and other lawful and reasonable act
conveyances and assurances in the law for the better and more effectually
vesting and confirming the premises hereby intended to be granted in and to the
said party of the Second part his heirs and assigns forever as by the said party
of the second part his heirs or assigns his or their counsel learned in the law
shall be reasonably advised devised or required
And the said Amos Cornwall Junior and his wife for themselves their heirs
the above described and hereby granted released premises and every part and
parcel thereof with the hereditaments and appurtenances unto the said party of
the second part his heirs and assigns against the said parties of the first part
and their heirs and against all any ever person and persons whatsoever shall and
will warrant and by these presents forever defend

interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written

ss on the 28th day of October 1833 came before me Amos Cornwall
Junior and Elizabeth his wife to me known to be the individuals described in and
who executed the foregoing instrument and acknowledged that they executed the
same and the said Elizabeth on a private examination apart from her said husband
acknowledged that she executed the same freely and without any fear or
compulsion of her husband
