I John Duel of Paulings (Pawling) Town in Dutchess County and State of New York being in sound mind and memory do think fit to make a distribution of my outward estate by will in the following manner
ss (to wit) First of all it is my will and I do order all my just debts and funeral charges paid by my executors hereafter mentioned out of my estate
--Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Anna the use of my now dwelling house, corn house, barn and all my land east of a straight line from the west side of the gate, as the fence now stands north by the west end of the barn to Benjamin Duel [sic.] land, and as far south as the south side of the road against my house an east line to Nathaniel Hoag [sic.] land and a privilege to get apples out of my orchard, sufficient for her use, and riding horse and leave all which I give to her so long as she remains my widow, and no longer. Also I give all that she brought with her and all that she has made since she has been with me except my wearing clothes, to her own disposal forever and also I give her provision for one year all that I have given to my wife is in lieu of her dowry or power of thirds
--Item I give and bequeath to my son Cornelius Duel five dollars over and above what I have already given him before
--Item I give and bequeath to my son Gideon Duel [sic.] deceased heirs five dollars over and above what I have given to him before
--Item I give and bequeath to my son Peter Duel [sic.] dec'est [deceased?] heir a watch that I now have
--Item I give and bequeath to my son Reuben Deuel [sic.] a receipt that I have against him on interest and money enough to make up with the receipt and interest five hundred dollars, and all my wearing apparel
--Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Duel two hundred and fifty dollars and all her household stuff that is called hers, ("hers" is a guess at an indecipherable word that looks like "hern") at her disposal forever and also I give her the use of the two north rooms in the house my son William lives in and the rooms over them to the roof of said house, and her fire wood cut and drawed [sic.] to the door, and her cow and horse kept winter and summer, and all her provisions of all sorts found her, suitable for her all which is to be found by my son William Duel as long as she remains in an unmarried state, and no longer
--Item I give and bequeath to my wife's son William Tripp one cow and ten sheep--Item I give and bequeath to James Draper son of John Draper twenty five dollars
--Item I give and bequeath to my son William Duel the west end of my homestead farm, on the north side as far east as the east part of the west meadow joining Benjamin Duel [sic.] land then running on said wall as it now stands to the south side of said meadow, then running west about five rods to a small ditch and then running south about six rods so as to leave water then running east to the wall on the east side of a peach orchard, then running south on said wall to a wall running east, then running on said wall and fence east to the road and then running on the west side road to Louis Lyger [sic.] land, all which I give to him and his heirs and assigns forever, provided he pays and provides as above directed
--Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Cloah Whight (Chloe White) two hundred and fifty dollars
--Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Rebecca Fish two hundred and fifty dollars--turn over
--Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Patiance [sic.] Russell two notes that I have against her husband William Russell on interest and money enough to make up with the notes and interest two hundred and fifty dollars
--Item I do hereby order my executors hereafter mentioned to sell all the remainder of my estate, both real and personal and pay all my debts and the legacies and the remainder to divide equally between Cornelius Duel Reuben Duel Cloah Whight, Rebecca Fish, Patiance [sic.] Russell and Gideon Duel [sic.] heirs to have an [sic.] part equal with one of their uncles or aunts
--Item I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my two sons Cornelius Duel and William Duel my only and lawful executors to this my last will and testament, hereby disallowing and making void all former gifts or wills made by me in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixteenth day of the tenth month eighteen hundred and six, the words a good cow and ten sheep was [sic.] erased before signing. John Duel signed sealed pronounced and declared by me the said John Duel to be my last will and testament in the presents [sic.] of Edward Shove Junior Joshua Duel, Edward Shove.

This will was probated (proven) at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, NY before James Tallmadge Junior, Surrogate Judge on 28 November 1806. Cornelius Duel and William Duel were approved as executors and given the right to administer the estate of the deceased John Duel.
