Know all Men by these presents that I Mary Doughty of the town of Beekman in the County of Dutchess have made constituted & appointed & by these presents do make constitute & appoint John Brill of the same place my true & lawful attorney for me & in my name place & stead to grant bargain & sell or lease any one or all such [?] lands tenements hereditaments & real estate whatsoever whereof I am now or hereafter may be by any ways or means howsoever entitled or interested in either jointly or in severally or in common with any other person or persons or any part share or proportion thereof & all such right title interest claim & demand both in law & in equity as I may have in the same for such [purse?] & price & on such terms as to him shall seem meet & for me & in my name to make present & deliver good & sufficient deeds & conveyances for the same & every part thereof either with or without covenant & warranty. And also for me & in my name 7 to my use to ask demand & receive all sums of money which shall be due or become due owing or payable to me as [?] due from the person, using to use or having need & occupied said lands etc. and to compound arbitrate & agree for the same & acquittances or other sufficient discharges for me & in my name to make & deliver And also for me & in my name to sue for settle & adjust with all person & persons, all account dues & demands subsisting or to subsist between them or either of them & me & to compound, arbitrate & agree the same in such manner as my said attorney shall think proper & to act [personally?] as my agent & attorney giving & granting unto him my said attorney full power & authority to do & perform all & every act & think whatsoever requisite & necessary to be done in & about the [?] as fully to all intents & purposes as I might or could do if personally present with full power of substitution & revocation hereby ratifying & confirming all that my said attorney or his substitute shall lawfully do or cause to be done by virtue hereof.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the 12th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & forty two.
