1794 Deed from Moses Sackrider to Cyrus Benjamin

Abstract: Moses Sackrider of Fishkill, sells to Cyrus Benjamin, 300 acres in Fishkill for 24 pounds, money of the State of New York, dated 13 March 1794, recorded 12 February 1822. The following Copy is made at the request of William Williams Esquire
Know all Persons whom it may concern, that I Moses Sackrider of Fishkill Town, Dutchess County and State of New York do for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty four pounds current lawful money of New York to me in hand paid by Cyrus Benjamin the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained, sold and possession delivered and by these presents according to the due form of Law, do bargain, sell and deliver unto the said Cyrus Benjamin one certain tract, piece or parcel of Land lying in the Highlands in Fishkill township aforesaid bounded as followeth, Beginning at a Stake and Stones it being the corner of said Benjamin, Mary Teads[?] Land from thence a Northwest course along Mary Teads land to a Red Oak Tree marked to the Widow Bownds Land it being said Riders corner tree, from thence about a North East course along said Widow Bowns Land to Joseph Wrights corner to a Black Oak tree marked from thence running Eastwardly to the top of the mountain to a white oak tree marked which is said Wrights corner tree, from thence Northwardly along said Wrights Land to the corner of Joseph Carmans Wood & Lot and said Wrights corner which is a black oak tree marked, from thence running Northwardly along said Carmans Lot to a birch tree marked which is said Carmans North East corner by Platt Rogers possession line, from thence a North East course along said Rogers possession line to a Walnut saplin on a ledge of Rocks which said Rogers South East corner from thence Northwardly along said Rogers line to Beekman Town line, from thence Eastwardly along said Towns line to a White Oak saplin marked on three sides for a corner which is said Sackriders corner and John Niles Northwest corner from thence southeastwardly to the East side of a black ash swamp, from thence South Eastwardly on the East side of said Swamp to a maple sapling marked standing in a Brook it being said Sackriders and Cornelius Haights corner from thence Westwardly to a large white oak tree marked which is said Haights corner tree from thence Southwardly to a large chestnut tree stand at the head of the grape swamp from thence a Westwardly course to the place of beginning containing three hundred Acres be the same more or less within said bounds to have and to hold the said bargain premises unto the said Cyrus Benjamin his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever and I the said Moses Sackrider for myself my heirs executors administrators the said bargained premises unto the said Cyrus Benjamin his heirs executors administrators and assigns against all persons will Warrant & forever defend by these present Excepting the Lords of the Soil � In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety four � [Signature of] Moses Sackrider

Dutchess County ss Be it remembered that on the twenty third day of July in the year of our Lord [one thousand stricken out here] Eighteen Hundred and thirteen[?] appeared before me Stephen Hoyt a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas for the County of Putnam, Joseph Carman one of the subscribing witness to the execution of this deed of conveyance and being duly sworn did depose and say that he saw Moses Sackrider, the grantor therein named sign seal and deliver the same as his own voluntary act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and that Jeremiah Coon with him the deponent signed the same as a Witness to the execution thereof � And I having examined the same find no material erasures or interlineations therein [Signature of] Stephen Hoyt
