Gerard Cemetery

No.6 on Atlas map of 1876 Lot.51 (On Lloyd Matson Farm)

This cemetery, with only seven stones capable of identification, lies on Lot 51, Town of Marathon, on the Lloyd Matson farm, probably the one marked "N". Shevalier" in the Atlas of 1876. Mr Frank Place and Mr. Elwyn Jackson inquired at two places for this, of which they had been told by C.J. Burden of Lapeer, Lot 60, but only when the knocked at the back door of L. Matson's and ask him, did they find it. "Yes, it's right up there", panting up the hill and there they saw it, about 300 feet up the slope. They went up and set to work, followed later by about 15 children and 5 adults who were interested onlookers and helpers.
