A new benefit of membership to the Central New York Genealogical Society (CNYGS) is a bi-weekly newsletter "CNYGS E-News". The newsletter will be sent to all members who furnish their e-mail addresses.

Sheila Byrnes is author and editor of the newsletter.  Sheila is an experienced genealogy author, teacher, and presenter.  She has written similar columns for The Post-Standard for 16 years, and for other publications including “New England Ancestors” and “Oswego County Genealogy Society’s Newsletter.”  She is a member of several genealogical organizations and travels regularly to conferences and workshops which keeps her current and on the cutting edge of genealogy-related matters.

A wide range of subject matter will be included such as, but not limited to:

  • current happenings in the genealogical world, such as the imminent release of the 1940 Census

  • changes in the Social Security Death Index policies

  • CNYGS schedule of meetings and other happenings, and, when possible, the summary of programs after the fact
