NSDAR  - NYDAR - Membership Requirements

Our Chapter Welcomes Membership Inquiries!

Thank you for your interest in the DAR.

We are available to assist women interested in becoming DAR members.

The Col. Marinus Willett-Mohawk Valley Chapter is named for the Mohawk Indians of the Iroquois Confederacy and the American Revolutionary War Hero, Marinus Willett, who, while serving at Fort Stanwix, was instrumental in defeating the British invasion of New York in 1777. Chapter members attended the dedication of the Marinus Willett Education Center in July 2005, marking the completion of the Fort Stanwix National Monument Bicentennial Project.

Members of the chapter volunteer at the Marinus Willett Education Center, the DAR Room at the Herkimer County Historical Society Museum, attend national, state, and regional conferences, support local veterans’ programs, and promote education of future generations through DAR Good Citizen scholarships.

The chapter is growing, with over 50 members - women who have pledged to work together in friendship, service, and commitment. Each member of the Col. Marinus Willett-Mohawk Valley Chapter brings unique qualifications and valuable experience to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism.

The chapter meets on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. unless designated otherwise.

We Hope You Will Join Us!

We will work with members throughout the National Society to continue the long history of DAR promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism in order to preserve the past, enhance the present, and invest in the future for generations to come.

In circles of friendship, service, and commitment,

Merry Ann T. Wright, Member Col. Marinus Willett-Mohawk Valley Chapter
