Early settlers in the Town of Preston (#14) of Original Twenty Towns taken from "1874 History of Chenango & Madison Counties, NY" by James H Smith; pub. 1880. Tried to use year, where stated, person and where they were from.
Preston was formed from Norwich April 2, 1806. McDonough was taken off April 27, 1816, and a part of Norwich in 1808. A part of the latter town was re-annexed in 1820. Presently it forms major portion of No. 14 of the Twnety Townships.
