At the annual meeting of the first Presbyterian Church Society held in accordance with due notice in the session room(?) Oct. 6, 1851. John Seymour was called to the chair and the records of the last annual meeting read and adopted. On motion P. Sprague and A. H. Barker were elected Trustees in place of P. Sprague & S. Hart whose term of Ofice[sic] Inst(?) expired. The report of the committee previously appointed to secure as many Slips from the owners of the Same as practicable(?) for(?) now(?) was then read and laid on the table. On motion Resolved that the Trustees shall rent the Slips on Thursday Oct. 17 to the highest bidder. On motion Resolved that the Trustees shall raise by subscription the balance over & above the rent of the Slips to pay the minister the organist and the other expenses of the Society the Salary of the organist to be $100 per annum. On motion Resolved that the Trustees be empowered to sell the old organ and purchase a new one with the proceeds of such sale and the subscription raised for that purpose. On motion Resolved that H. Pemberton be a committee to raise by subscription the amt requisite to purchase a new bell(?). On motion F. A. Redington was elected clerk of the Society for the year ensuing.
At a meeting of the first Presbyterian Church & Society of Pomfret in accordance with a call previously made by the Trustees and Elders for the purpose electing a Pastor Rev. Mr. Hamilton was chosen moderator. On motion of A. F. Taylor it was resolved to Elect a pastor of the first Presbyterian Church of Pomfret by ballot. Whereupon the society proceeded to ballot and Rev. Daniel A. Clark Jr. was unanimously elected Pastor. On motion Resolved to extend a call to Rev. Danl A. Clark to become Pastor of the First Presybterian Church of Pomfret. On motion Resolved that the Elders & Trustees be a committee to sign said call in behalf of the Church & Society. On motion Resolved that the Presbytery be invited to hold a special meeting at Fredonia on the fourth Tuesday of Oct. inst to install Rev. Dan’l A. Clark in the pastoral office of the first Presbyterian Church of Pomfret.

At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret held at the church in Fredonia in accordance with due notice previously given Dea John Seymour was appointed chairman on motion of A. F. Taylor. The Trustees then rendered their report of the financial condition of the ch & Soc as follows:

Clement & Calvin Hutchinson were duly elected said Trustees. F. A. Redington was elected clerk for the year ensuing.

At the annual meeting of the first Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held at the church on due notice given on the 3d day of October 1853, on motion Dea. John Seymour was appointed Chairman. On motion Resolved that the committee on getting the Slips given up make their report. Whereupon said committee reported as far as they had gone, and were requested to finish their mission. On motion proceeded to elect two Trustees in place of A. H. Walker and H. C. Frisbee, whose term has expired. Charles E. Washburn and Oscar W. Johnson were chosen to fill said vacancies. On motion Resolved that the Trustees(?) assess(?) the Slips in the church, which are not given up, to the owners of the same and give the owners notice of said assessment; and those not taken at the assessment(?) be sold with the rest to the highest bidder. On motion Resolved that there be raised the ensuing year Twelve(?) Hundred Dollars, to pay debts now(?) due and for accruing expenses. On motion, Resolved that a committee of three(?) be appointed by the chair(?) to obtain of Calvin Hutchinson the Lot adjoining this church bid (?) (?) him at the sale of the Barker estate. Whereupon H. C. Frisbee, A. H. Walker and P. Sprague were appointed said Committee. Resolved that H. C. Frisbee act as Clerk for the ensuing year. Resolved that H. C. Frisbee and A. H. Barker seat strangers. On motion adjourned.

Report from the committee appointed at last annual meeting to purchase lot, alter fences(?), &c, read, approved and accepted. Balance due H. C. Frisbee $19.54. H. J. On motion Resolved that the Trustees rent all the Slips, except Ministers. Elected as Trustees for the three years ensuing, Erastus Holt and Eli Roberts. Voted that J. Crane seat strangers. Voted that H. C. Frisbee be Clerk. Adjourned sine die.
At a Meeting of the church and Society called by the Trustees and held in the basement room on Tuesday 27th Nov. 1855, A. F. Taylor was chosen Moderator and H. C. Frisbee Secretary. A communication was presented by S. M. Clement from Rev. D. Clark, Pastor, requesting the church and society to unite with him in asking the Presbytery to dissolve the existing relation of pastor with said Church and Society. On motion that the request be complied with the vote stood, Ayes 6, Noes 5. On motion, said vote was reconsidered. On motion, a committee was appointed consisting of C. Hutchinson, Ensign Baker and Ezra S. Ely to ascertain, if the terms required by Mr. Clark of the Society, could be complied with and report to an adjourned meeting to be held at same place on Friday Nov. 30. On motion, adjourned to that day.
Friday Nov. 30, 1855. Society met according to adjournment. A. F. Taylor in the chair. Committee appointed at preceding meeting made a report. Sufficient(?) not being(?) subscribed for paying up arrearages and meeting advanced salary and expenses for coming year a motion was made and carried that the committee aforesaid E(?) Ely being excused and Oscar W. Johnson appointed to circulate subscription papers for ascertaining how much can be raised for salary and expenses for the current year, and report at an adjourned meeting one week from date. Adjourned to said day.
Friday Dec. 7, 1855. Met pursuant to adjournment. Committee reported available Pew rent and subscriptions to be rebid on(?) at $976.00. Mr. Washburn offered the following resolution which was passed unanimously. Whereas our Pastor Rev. Daniel Clark has requested us as a Society to unite with him in petitioning Presbytery to dissolve the pastoral relation: Resolved that while we comply with his request, we do so with hearty reciprocation of the kind feeling expressed in his communication and with high regard for his personal & Christian character. On motion H. C. Frisbee was appointed committee to report action to Presbytery, and S. M. Clement to report to Pastor. On motion, adjourned sine die.
At a special meeting of the Society held at the church April 22, 1856, pursuant to notice given from the pulpit on the preceding Sabbath for the purpose of acting upon the subject of obtaining a Pastor, Rev. Timothy Stillman moderator, it was on motion Voted that a call be given to the Rev. Edwin S. Wright at a salary of one thousand dollars payable quarterly. Voted, that A. F. Taylor, H. C. Frisbee, & F. H. Reddington be a committee to obtain the names of individuals who will be responsible for arrearages for salary and necessary expenses of the House, during the pastorship(?) of Mr. Wright. The names of the individuals following for this purpose were given in at the meeting viz. John Seymour, S. M. Clement, H. Pemberton, E. Holt, C. Hutchinson, C. E. Washburn, W. McKinstry, Joseph Starr, E. G. Cook, T. Kapple(?), Eli Roberts, P. Sprague, F. A. Redington, A. H. Barker, H. C. Frisbee, A. F. Taylor, D. J. Pratt, E. S. Ely, N. H. Whitcomb, Salmon Hart. On motion adjourned.

At a special meeting of the first Presbyterian Church & Society of Pomfret held in the Sessions(?) Room of the church June 9th 1856, pursuant to a call by the Trustees of said Society – given from the Pulpit on the preceding Sabbath[.]
Rev[.] Timothy Stillman was chosen Moderator & S. M. Clement Temporary clerk[.]
The meeting was opened with prayer by the Moderator. The Moderator then read the notice of the Trustees above referred to stating of the object of the meeting to be “for the purpose of fixing and arranging about the Ministers Salary.” The Moderator further stated that some members of the Society were apprehensive that there was a technical irregularity in the call for the Meeting of the Society held on the 22d of April last at which a Pastor was called and his Salary fixed as recorded on the pages next preceding this. Whereupon the following preamble & resolution were unanimously adopted.
Whereas apprehension exists in the minds of some members of the Society that there was a technical irregularity in the call for the meeting of the Society on the 22d of April last at which a Pastor was called & his salary fixed therefore
Resolved that we now ratify the proceedings of that meeting as to the call which was made to Rev. Edwin S. Wright to be our

Pastor and as to the amount and terms of payment of his salary and as to the vote directing the Trustees of the Society and the Elders of the Church to execute the call in their official capacity. On motion adjourned sine die.
At the annual Meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held pursuant to due notice at this Church on the 7th day of October 1856, John Seymour was appointed Moderator. Minutes of preceding Meetings were read and accepted. Voted to proceed to election of Trustees S. M. Clement and C. E. Washburn were elected for three years, and Eli S. Gates for one year to fill vacancy of H. J. Miner. Voted that A. F. Taylor, S. M. Clement, Watson(?) H. Barker and Avery Barmore be Collectors. Voted that A. F. Taylor seat strangers. Voted that H. C. Frisbee be Clerk. On motion, Adjourned.
1857
At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held pursuant to due notice at their Church on the 6th day of October 1857 John Seymour was appointed Moderator.
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
On motion it was voted to proceed to the election of two Trustees in place of Willard McKinstry and Eli S. Gates whose term[s] had expired. Eli S. Gates and F. A. Redington having received the highest number of votes were duly elected for three years.
H. C. Frisbee was elected Clerk for the ensuing year.
H. Pemberton and A. H. Barker were appointed to seat strangers.
C. Hutchinson and L. Avery Barmore were appointed to take collections.
Willard McKinstry was appointed to solicit subscriptions to pay off balance due on Organ.
On motion adjourned.
1858
At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held in pursuance of due notice at the Session Room on the (?) day of Oct. John Seymour was chosen Moderator. Minutes of former meeting read and approved. On motion, Eli Roberts and Calvin Hutchinson were elected Trustees for three years ensuing. H. C. Frisbee was appointed Clerk. L. Avery Barmore and Sterne Frisbee were appointed to seat strangers. On motion Allen Hinkley was added Willard McKinstry, as a committee to collect money to pay balance of organ note. On motion, Resolved that it is expedient (?) build a session house as soon as practicable(?) & that action be taken at this meeting having end in view. Whereupon a subscription was started for that purpose. On motion, adjourned.
1859
At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held in pursuance of due notice at the Session Room, on the 3d day of October 1859. Deacon John Seymour was chosen Chairman. On motion Stephen O. Day and Henry C. Frisbee were elected Trustees for three years ensuing. On motion H. C. Frisbee was elected Clerk. On motion, L. Avery Barmore and Abner Roberts(?) were appointed to seat strangers. On motion, voted that five dollars be paid out of the Societys funds to make the final payment on the Organ note. On motion Adjourned.

At the annual Meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held at their church on the 3d day of Oct. 1860 A. F. Taylor was chosen chairman. Minutes of last annual Meeting read & approved. On balloting for three Trustees, A. S. Moss was elected for two years to fill vacancy made by nonacceptance of H. C. Frisbee, and A. F. Taylor and A. S.(?) Roberts for three years. H. C. Frisbee was Chosen Clerk. A. S. Roberts and Walter Hart were chosen to seat strangers. On motion adjourned.

At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret, held at the Presbyterian church on the 1st day of October 1861, S. O. Day was chosen chairman. On motion, Calvin Hutchinson and Orson Stil(?) were elected Trustees for three years. On motion A. S. Roberts and A. F. Taylor were chosen to seat strangers. H. C. Frisbee was appointed Clerk. A communication was received from the Rev. E. S. Wright, remitting one hundred dollars from his salary for the year beginning December 1, 1861. On motion adjourned.
1862
At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held at the Presbyterian Church on the 6th of Oct. 1862 A. S. Moss was chosen chairman. On voting for the election of Trustees, Stephen M. Clements and Eli S. Gates were elected for three years, and (?) S. Moss for one year to fill out the unexpired time of A. F. Taylor, resigned. H. C. Frisbee was elected Clerk for the ensuing year. J. C. Moss and W. D. Kellogg were chosen to seat strangers. A communication was received from Rev. E. S. Wright remitting $100 from his salary for the ensuing year from the 1st of December 1862, upon which a vote of Thanks as follows was passed, and H. C. Frisbee appointed a committee to communicate the same to him.
1863
Voted, that the thanks of this society be rendered to their Pastor, Rev. Edwin S. Wright, for his liberality in remitting from his salary for two successive years the sum of one hundred dollars; that the Society duly appreciate these acts of liberality, and gratefully accept them as an evidence of the mutual good feeling and harmony existing between Pastor and People. On motion voted to adjourn.
1863
At the Annual Meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret, held in the basement of their Church on the 5th day of October 1863, John Seymour was chosen chairman. The minutes of the last meeting and the report of the Trustees were read and accepted. On voting for two Trustees, Wm. A. Johnson and Allen Hinckley were elected for three years. A. S.(?) Roberts and L. Avery Barmore were appointed to seat strangers. On motion of P. Sprague, it was voted that the arrangement entered into at the special meeting of the society held April 22, 1856 (See record of that date) by twenty members of the society to become responsible for arrearages for salary of the pastor and necessary expenses of the house, be discontinued. Voted, to adjourn.
1864
At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held at their Church on the 3d day of October, A. S. Roberts was chosen chairman. On motion, John B. Forbes and Luther (?) were chosen Trustees for three years. H. C. Frisbee was chosen clerk. A. S. Roberts and A. F. Taylor were chosen to seat strangers. On motion adjourned.
1865
At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held at their church on 2d day of October 1865, A. S. Roberts was chosen chairman. On motion, Jas. B. Caruth and C. T.(?) Wygant were elected Trustees for three years, and S. Clement Trustee for one year to fill the vacancy made by decease of Allen Hinckley. H. C. Frisbee was chosen clerk. John B. Forbes and A. F. Taylor were appointed to seat strangers. On motion adjourned.
1866
At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held at their church pursuant to notice on the first day of October 1866. A. F. Taylor was chosen chairman. On motion of S. M. Clement it was voted to adjourn to the first Monday(?) of November(?) next.
At the adjourned meeting held November 5th 1866 John Seymour was chosen Chairman. On motion John B. Forbes one of the Trustees, was requested to make a full report of the present financial condition of the Presbytery(?) (?) that it be recorded. S. M. Clement and Eli Roberts were elected Trustees for three years and Calvin Hutchinson for two years to fill the vacancy occasioned(?) by the removal of J. B. Caruth. H. C. Frisbee was elected Clerk. J. B. Forbes and W. T. Wygant were elected to seat strangers. On motion adjourned.
Mr. J. B. Forbes reported cash on hand September 1, 1866, after paying Pastors salary and all expenses of society to that date $107.52.
1867
At the annual meeting of the First Presybterian Society of Pomfret, held at their Church Monday 7th day of October, John Seymour was chosen Moderator. Last years proceedings read and adopted. L. Avery Barmore was elected a Trustee to fill the vacancy made by the decease of C. T. Wygant(?). J. Beman Putnam and Abner S. Roberts were elected Trustees for three years. H. C. Frisbee was elected Clerk. Albert L. Keller and John Hunn were elected to seat strangers. On motion it was Resolved to increase the salary of our Pastor Rev. E. S. Wright three hundred dollars. On motion H. C. Frisbee was appointed committee to notify owners of sheds(?) needing repairs to make the repairs without delay. On motion, report of Trustees was made and accepted. On motion adjourned.
1868
At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret, held at their church on Monday the 5th day of October, John Seymour was chosen Moderator. The Minutes of last year’s proceedings were read and adopted. Report of Trustees called for, and a verbal report made by J. B. Putnam. On motion, the Trustees were requested to make a written report of the state of the Treasury – The amount received during the past year and from what sources, and the amt. paid out and for what purposes. L. Avery Barmore and Thos. L. Higgins were elected Trustees for three years. S. M. Clement resigned his office of Trustee – resignation accepted, and Stephen Snow elected to fill out his term, ending Oct. 5, 1869. H. C. Frisbee was elected Clerk. Albert Keller and John Hunn elected to seat strangers. Motion made by S. M. Clement and carried, that the Trustees be authorized and instructed to raise $400.00 to pay the pastor’s increase of salary of $300. and arrearages of last year now due. On motion adjourned.

At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held at the church Oct. 5, 1869, John Seymour was appointed chairman. The report of the Trustees was called for and read by S. Snow, giving a full statement of the financial condition of the Society. A communication was received from Rev. E. S. Wright in reference to a proposed Legacy or donation from Mr. Calvin Hutchinson to this Society. On motion Resolved that the Trustees take such action in reference thereto as shall be proper. Resolved, That the clerk be authorised[sic] to return to Mr. Hutchinson an acknowledgement of their gratitude for the donation. On motion of A. F. Taylor, Resolved that the Trustees request Rev. E. S. Wright to accept $1000.00 as the amount of his Salary for the ensuing year. J. Seymour and H. C. Frisbee were appointed a committee to confer with Mr. Wright on this subject. H. C. Frisbee was elected Clerk. Resolved that when this meeting adjourn, it be to the 3d Tuesday in Oct. inst. at 2 P.M. Motion that we adjourn. Carried.

Society met according to adjournment of annual meeting. J. Seymour in the chair. Minutes of former meeting read and approved. Report of committee to confer with Rev. E. S. Wright on subject of salary called for. Letter from Mr. Wright read (in which he consents to receive $1000. as his salary for the ensuing year, and for what time he remains with the Society.) The report of the committee was accepted & committee discharged. Mr. Snow announced the resignation of A. S. Roberts as Trustee, and Dr. Landon was elected to fill his unexpired term of one year. On motion of A. S. Moss, the Trustees were requested to circulate a subscription to raise the amount of arrearage against the Society. On motion adjourned sine die.

At a special meeting of the Society and Church convened according to proper notice on Tuesday the 27th of Sept. 1870, John Seymour was appointed Moderator, who stated the object of the meeting: which was to unite with(?) the Rev. E. S. Wright in asking for a dissolution of the relation of pastor and people now existing. On motion, Resolved, that we unite with our Pastor, Rev. Doct. E. S. Wright, at his request to ask the Buffalo Presbytery to dissolve the Pastoral relation between him and this church. Carried: As an expression of the feelings of the meeting(?) towards our pastor, for the fourteen years he has labored among us, a warm testimonial was unanimously voted to be presented to him. On motion, voted that the Trustees proceed without delay to circulate a subscription to obtain the amount of arrearages now standing against the Society. On motion, adjourned.

At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held Oct. 4, 1870, John Seymour was appointed moderator. Minutes of former meetings were read and approved. On motion, S. O. Day and J. B. Putnam were elected Trustees for three years. L. A. Barmore offered his resignation as Trustee, which on being put to vote, was lost. H. C. Frisbee was elected Clerk. A motion was made and carried that the chair appoint a committee of three from the Trustees to unite with the Session in having the pulpit supplied. S. O. Day, J. L. Higgins and L. A. Barmore were appointed said committee. On motion, adjourned.

In accordance with a notice read from the pulpit on the 3d day of September (the Sabbath) a special meeting was held on the 4th of Sept. (John Seymour ch’n) to take into consideration the subject of inviting the Rev. Mr. Schofield (who preached the preceding Sabbath) to supply the pulpit of this church. On motion, it was voted that the Rev. Mr. Schofield be invited to preach one year at $1500. per year. On motion, voted to adjourn.

At the annual meeting of the 1st Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held the 3d day of Oct.(?) A. F. Taylor(?) was appointed Chairman. Report of Treasurer (L. A. Barmore) read and accepted. J. B. Putnam resigned office of Trustee. H. C. Clark and Reuben Pettingill(?) were elected Trustees for three years and L. A. Barmore to fill the place of J. B. Putnam. A motion was made and carried that the Trustees be instructed to rent no Pew less than half(?). H. C. Frisbee was elected Clerk. John Hunn and L. Caruth chosen to seat strangers. On motion voted to adjourn sine die.
1872
At a special meeting held July 16 pursuant to a notice from the pulpit, L. A. Barmore was chosen chairman. On motion, a committee was appointed to collect arrearages amounting to about $400. On motion Resolved that a call be given Rev. Schofield to become our pastor provided a salary of $1,500.00 and the necessary expenses, of the church can be raised. On motion voted to adjourn, but before the motion was put, Voted to pay W. McKinstry $25 for procuring man for repairing church last year.
1872
At a special meeting of the first Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held at their church on the 4th day of Sept. in accordance with a notice given from the pulpit the preceding Sabbath, Willard McKinstry was chosen chairman. The meeting was opened by prayer by Dea. J. Seymour. Resolved, on motion of A. F. Taylor that the meeting proceed to vote, by ballot, to give Rev. Wm. C. Scofield a call to become their Pastor at a salary of $1500.00 per year. On motion, H. C. Clark and O. R. Burchard were appointed Tellers. On counting the votes, the whole number given being 94, there were For the call 46, Against the call 48. On motion of A. F. Taylor, Resolved that this meeting now adjourn. Carried.
At a meeting of the church and society held in the basement of the church on the 30th of Sept. 1872 in pursuance of a notice read in the pulpit on the preceding Sabbath, Dea. John Seymour was chosen chairman, and O. R. Burchard secretary. Meeting opened with prayer by bro. Burchard. Verbal report was made by a committee consisting of J. B. Wygant, O. R. Burchard, R. P. Clement, & Mr. & Mrs. L. A. Barmore to go to Buffalo and hear the Rev. Mr. A. L. Benton preach and have an interview with him in regard to becoming a pastor of this church. After the report and some discussion there on was moved and seconded that Mr. Benton be invited to come and preach one month with the view if agreeable to both parties he be given a call to become Pastor of the Church. On motion, voted to adjourn.
The Annual Meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret was held in the basement of their church on the 1st day of October 1872 A. F. Taylor was appointed Moderator. L. A. Barmore Treasurer of and for Trustees read report which on motion was accepted. Proceeded to elect Trustees. J. B. Putnam and T. L. Hubbard were elected for three years, and D. Fairbanks was elected for one year to fill vacancy of A. F. Taylor, resigned. On motion of H. C. Frisbee, Jesse Starr was elected Clerk. On motion, John Hunn and Charles Webster were appointed to seat strangers. On motion, adjourned.
Special meeting held Monday Oct. 14, 1872, in pursuance of a notice read from the pulpit the day before, for the purpose of “taking further action in regard to procuring a pastor for the Church.”
On motion Dr. John Gilbert was appointed moderator. Meeting opened by prayer by the moderator. Motion made that the call before extended to the Rev. Mr. Benton at a salary of Fifteen hundred dollars and a parsonage be renewed.
Moved that the above be amended by adding that this society also pay the expenses of moving Mr. Benton’s family and goods to this place, amendment accepted and vote taken on the question as amended; carried unanimously.
Moved that the Trustees be appointed a committee to make out and sign the call. Carried.

At a special meeting of the first Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held in the basement of the church Feb. 6, 1874, pursuant to a call from the trustees, read from the pulpit on the preceding Sabbath, the following business was transacted.
On motion L. A. Barmore was elected Chairman of the meeting.
Meeting opened by prayer by Dea. John Seymour.
The Chairman then stated the object of the meeting to be to hear the report of the subscription committee, and devise means to raise the balance of the twenty thousand dollars.
The chairman of the committee reported about $17000 on the paper besides a little over $900, on cards making all $18.134.00 pledged, but stated that the amount on the cards could not be counted in the amount until transferred to the original subscription paper.
On motion the report was accepted. Bro. Ely moved that the report and paper be recommitted to the same committee to obtain the balance necessary and report at some future time.
Remarks made by Bros. Hubbard, Forbes, Barmore, Fairbanks, and Putnam. On vote the motion was declared carried.
Moved that the trustees be requested to call another meeting on Monday next.
Carried.
A reconsideration was moved and carried and the motion was then lost.
Moved that when this meeting adjourns it adjourn until Monday afternoon next. Carried.
Moved that the committee be instructed to get the sums now on cards transferred to the subscription paper. Carried.
The following sums were pledged on condition that the whole amount be raised before March 1st 1874.

At a special meeting of the First Presbyterian Society held in the basement of the church Feb. 9th 1874 pursuant to adjournment from Feb. 6th the following business was transacted.

Minutes of last meeting read and approved.
The committee on subscriptions reported the amount actually on the paper at $18,145.00 and $40 still on cards. Moved that we now call for volunteer subscriptions in this meeting until the amount is raised. Carried.
T.S. Hubbard then stated that he was authorized to offer for Mrs. A.S. Moss $100.00 and for Dea. Eli Roberts 100.00.
The following additional sums were then subscribed.
Mr. Fairbanks stated that he was authorized to state that Mrs. E. F. Warren would subscribe 50.00. The chairman stated it to be the wish of the trustees that the society elect a building committee. Moved that a nominating committee of three be appointed to nominate a building committee of three. On motion it was voted that the above motion be laid on the table. Moved that we now hear a further report from the committee. The subscriptions pledged on Saturday and also those pledged at this meeting having been placed upon the paper and also a subscription from J. Condit Smith of Buffalo for 500.00. The committee reported $19,970. Actually on the paper and the pledge of Mrs. E. F. Warren which they would have on the paper before night making the full amount of $20,000 and a few dollars to spare. The communication from J. Condit Smith offering the subscription of $500. to the Society was then read. Moved that the thanks of this society be tendered to Col. J. C. Smith for his liberal donation. Carried unanimously. Moved that the report of the committee be received and the committee continued and that Thos. L. Higgins be added to the committee. Carried. Feb. 16, 1874
Special meeting held pursuant to call from the Trustees and noticed from the pulpit on the Sabbath previous to elect a building committee and transact such other business as might come before the meeting relative to building. On motion A. S. Moss was chosen chairman. Meeting opened by prayer by Bro. Ezra Ely. Bro. Ely offered the following resolution, Resolved that the building committee when elected be instructed to adopt their plans and let their contracts so that the amount shall come within the subscriptions on the paper and not run the Society in debt. Resolution carried. Moved that we elect an executive committee who may consult with the Trustees, but shall have full power to adopt plans and build according to their own judgment and draw on the Trustees for the necessary funds. After some discussion the motion was withdrawn. Moved that the Trustees six in number be the committee. Moved as an amendment that three more be added. Vote taken and the amendment declared carried. Vote then taken on the motion as amended and carried. On motion W.(?) B. Archibald, Thos. L. Higgins and Chas L. Mark were then elected as the three to form the committee in conjunction with the Trustees. Moved that the Village Trustees be requested to remove the Town Clock from this building when the Trustees of the Society direct. Carried. The meeting then adjourned sine die. J. R. Starr Clerk
Special Meeting held in the basement of the Church June 3rd 1874 at 3 o’clock P.M. according to notice given from the pulpit on the Sabbath previous. Prof. O. R. Burchard chairman. Meeting opened by prayer by J. B. Putnam. Mr. Fairbanks stated the object of the meeting to be for the building committee to report as to their plans and ask further instructions from the society in regard to further action, and reported that there was some difference in opinion among the committee as to the cost of a church built after the present plans, five of the committee thinking it would cost from 28 to 30,000 dollars, but the rest of the committee think it can be built inside of 25,000 dollars. After considerable discussion it was moved that the committee be authorized to proceed with the building of a new church according to their present plans at an expense not to exceed 25,000 dollars and the old church. Carried by a vote of 10 for & 5 against. Some of the committee then stated that the attendance and vote was so small they were not willing to go on with the work by running the society in debt without a much larger vote on the matter. L. A. Barmore and T. L. Higgins wished to resign their places on the building committee. Moved that Mr. Higgins’ resignation be accepted, lost. Moved that Mr. Barmore’s resignation be accepted, lost. It was then moved that this meeting adjourn until Monday next at 3 p.m. Carried.
Adjourned meeting of the first Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held in the Free M. E. Church Monday June 8th 1874 at 3 P.M. On motion J. B. Wygant elected chairman. Meeting opened by Prayer by Rev. Mr. Benton. Moved that the minutes of the business transacted June 3rd be expunged there being some doubt about its being a strictly legal meeting and that we now proceed to business under the new call read last Sabbath. Carried. Moved that this society direct the building committee to proceed on their present plan using their best judgment, and that they be allowed to expend not to exceed 25,000 dollars and the old church. Mr. Fairbanks stated the object of the meeting to be to obtain instruction from the society as to what the building committee should now do, and stated that the estimates of the probable cost on the present plan was from 23,000 to 25,000 dollars, others of the committee thought it would cost as high as 28000 to 30000 dollars. Letter from the architect read. After considerable talk in regard to expense of the present plan &c. the motion was withdrawn.
Mr. Moss then offered the following. Moved that the building committee be authorized to build a church on the plan submitted by Mr. Valk, subject to such modifications as the Committee may suggest, and go as far as the money lasts, and then stop until more is raised, if more should be necessary. Carried. On motion the meeting then adjourned.
Monday July 27th 1874
Special meeting of the first Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held in the Free M. E. Church pursuant to call read from the pulpit on the Sabbath previous, to raise money to pay the arrearages of the current year (about 500.00). On motion L. A. Barmore elected Chairman, Opened by Prayer by J. B. Putnam.
The chairman stated that the object of the meeting was expressed in the call given by the Trustees which he read as follows. “Your board of Trustees would state(?) that they are unable to meet the demands already due against the Society. This state of affairs is owing to delinquencies in the payment of that which they had reason to expect for the support of the Gospel the current year. When all resources at our disposal are exhausted there will remain an indebtedness of nearly or quite Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) on Sept. 1st 1874. Unless the means is provided the Trustees will be unable longer to provide for the expenses of the Society. In view of these facts, and the urgent necessities of the case, a meeting of the Church and Society is called for Monday July 27th (tomorrow) at 8 A.M. in this house.” Signed L. A. Barmore, Chairman of the board of Trustees.
After some conversation it was moved that Mr. Forbes, Mr. Barmore, Mr. Hubbard and Mr. Fairbanks be appointed a committee to solicit subscriptions.
Moved that the motion be amended by adding the names of Mr. Goulding and Mr. Webster.
Vote first taken on the amendment and carried, and then taken on the question as amended and also carried.
Moved that we adjourn for one week to receive the report of the committee. Carried.

Carried. After considerable talk about finances &c a motion to adjourn was made and carried.

Special meeting held May 24th 1875 by the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret in the new Church. O. R. Burchard, elected Chairman. Meeting opened by prayer by Rev. A. L. Benton. Building committee reported the funds used up and a debt incurred of about(?) 26.00 [sic] dollars.
On motion the report was accepted.
On motion voted, that when we put Heating apparatus in the new church shall be a steam heater. Resolved that the building committee be instructed to solicit further subscriptions, that the amount raised be applied 1st to the payment of the existing debt then for Glass, Chandelier, Pulpit and Steam Heater and then if enough is raised to carpeting and cushions.
Moved as an amendment that a committee be appointed to solicit subscriptions outside of the building committee.
Vote taken on question as amended and declared carried.
Moved that the chairman of this meeting, Prof. O. R. Burchard be one of the committee, carried. On motion the following were then added to the committee J. B. Forbes, Miss Anna Jones, Mrs. O. R. Burchard, Mrs. J. B. Putnam, Mr. E. Gates & Rev. A. L. Benton. Moved that the trustees be authorized to borrow 2600 dollars to pay the present debt for borrowed money and the debt to Mr. Harrison. Amendment offered that the amount be paid out of the first money raised for building purposes. Motion carried as amended.

Annual meeting of the first Presbyterian Society of Pomfret, held Oct. 5th 1875. On motion Prof. O. R. Burchard was elected chairman. Meeting opened by prayer by D. Fairbanks. Minutes of preceeding [sic] annual and special meeting read and approved. Moved that Mr. Putnam and Mr. Hubbard (the two Trustees whose terms are expired) be re-elected. Motion carried.

On motion the Trustees were authorized to borrow such an amount of money as is necessary to complete and furnish the new church, not to exceed $3,000 dollars and get it on as favorable terms as possible, for a term not exceeding five years, with authority to secure it by mortgage on the property or otherwise as may be required.

On motion, D. Fairbanks was Elected Trustee for regular term. Also Eli Roberts on motion was elected Trustees for regular term. On motion Jas. B. Carruth was elected Clerk for ensuing year. On motion John Hunn, Henry McNeil, Frank Wheeler & Carlton Moss were elected ushers. Treasurers report being read making a deficiency to this date of Eight Hundred and eight dollars and eleven cents $808.11 up to this date[.] [W]as on motion accepted.
It was moved by S. S. Riggs in writing and carried being read to the meeting “That in view of the stringency of the terms we regard the necessity which compels us to offer our pastor only Seventeen hundred dollars ($1700.) but we, under the circumstances, feel obliged to endorse the action of the Trustees in this offer & we sincerely hope our pastor will feel inclined to accept the offer. We should feel that a great calamity would threaten us if our Pastor should leave. On motion the meeting adjourned.

At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held at their Church on Tuesday 2 of October 1877. On motion Eli Roberts was elected Chairman. Proceedings of last meeting read and approved after Prayer by E. S. Ely.

In accordance with due notice given at the church of the first Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret on Sunday the 26 of March (Sabbath) a special meeting was held in their said Church on the 28 day of March 1882 for the purposes following. On motion of T. S. Hubbard, Oscar R. Burchard was elected Chairman. By request T. S. Hubbard offered prayer. In the absence of the Clerk, Frank C. Wheeler was [appointed] Clerk Pro Tem. By request, T. S. Hubbard stated that this meeting had been called to take action in regard to the resignation of the Rev. A. L. Benton as Pastor of this Church, which has been placed in the hands of the session of the church. Mr. Hubbard then read the following resignation.

“To the session of the Pres. Ch. Fredonia NY. Dear Brethren, allow me to present to you and through you to the church which you represent & the congregation connected therewith my resignation of the office of Pastor to which you called me nearly ten years ago. Such resignation to take effect at the close of the third Sabbath the 16th day of April next. I cannot do this without a pang of sorrow at the thought of severing ties which have become very strong. But believing that my own usefulness will be increased by accepting another charge & that you will be profited by a change of Pastors & the Kingdom of Christ advanced thereby, I am led to it. Please accept for yourselves & the Church grateful acknowledgements from myself & family, for the many acts of kindess & evidence of confidence we have received at your hands since I became your Pastor. With the prayer that the good master will direct you in the choice of my successor, I am with warmest affection your obedient servant & Pastor”
Fredonia N.Y. March 22 1882. A. L. Benton
T. S. Hubbard stated that the Pew rents had fallen off considerably and occasioned a reduction of Pastor’s salary. The chair stated Mr. Benton had expressed at different times during the past two years a desire to go to a new field of Labor and had now fully decided to leave this charge and, by accepting his resignation, it would not be necessary for Mr. Benton to apply to the Presbytery to obtain his release.
On motion of Dr. Gilbert, seconded by Mr. George Hutchinson, the resignation of Mr. Benton was accepted with the same kind wishes as tendered by him.
On motion of Dr. Gilbert, a committee was called for to draft appropriate resolutions and on Motion of Mr. Hutchinson, O. R. Burchard & T. S. Hubbard were appointed such committee, R. P. Clement being called to the chair while the committee was out.
The committee presented the following resolutions which were adopted.
Resolved That the Presbyterian Church and Society of Fredonia in accepting the resignation of their beloved pastor Rev. A. L. Benton wish to express the very high regard in which they hold him as a pastor and a friend and their appreciation of his faithful and efficient service with us, which, under the blessing of God have been productive of so great prosperity, both spiritual & temporal. It is with exceeding regret that they learn they must part with him, and that the pleasant relations which have so long existed must be severed. They would also express to himself and his family the wish which they believe is universal with this church and congregation for their well-being, usefulness and happiness in the new field of labor to which Providence has called them, and would pray that God’s blessing may be with them in all the thoughts of their hearts and all the labors of their hands.
On motion the Chair appointed Frank C. Wheeler, R. P. Clement and Dr. Gilbert were appointed a committee to wait on Mr. Benton and notify him of the action of the meeting and present the resolutions.
On motion of R. P. Clement, voted that a committee be appointed to suggest and present names for a permanent committee to supply the Pulpit. An amendment was offered by T. S. Hubbard that the members of this committee should be seven and that three of them be Ladies. The motion as amended carried. Names of committee appointed were R. P. Clement, Wm. Fraser, Mr. A. Morey, Geo. Hutchinson, Mrs. Hale, Mrs. Barmore and Miss Christine Gilbert. This committee reported that they thought it best that a permanent committee of 9 be appointed to secure a pastor for the Church and would present the following persons as such committee. O. R. Burchard, Willard McKinstry, T. S. Hubbard, O.W. Johnson, R. P. Clement, George Hutchinson, Geo. S. White, A. Y. Freeman & J. H. Clark, which report & suggestion were accepted and adopted.
On motion it was voted that so much of the proceedings of this meeting as pertains to Mr. Benton be published in the Village Papers and in the New York Evangelist. On motion meeting adjourned.
1882
At a special meeting of the first Presbyterian Church and society of Pomfret held in their church at Fredonia N.Y. on the 27 day of June 1882 due notice having been given the Sunday previous to the congregation assembled in this Church. The following business was transacted.
T. S. Hubbard was chosen Chairman by request. Prayer was offered by Prof.(?) Geo. L. White. The committee appointed at the last special [meeting] of this church & Society to procure the services of a pastor for the church composed of the following persons O. R. Burchard, Willard McKinstry, T.S. Hubbard, O. W. Johnson, R. P. Clement, Geo. Hutchinson, Geo. L. White, J. H. Clark, & A. Y. Freeman reported through their Chairman Prof. Geo. L. White as follows. “Report” The Committee appointed to recommend a suitable minister to succeed Rev. A. L. Benson, as permanent pastor of the Presbyterian Church Fredonia N.Y. beg to submit the following report. The committee held its first meeting within rooms of the Fredonia National Bank, Friday Evening April 7th and organized by electing Geo. L. White Chairman and R. P. Clement Secretary. Other meetings were held from time to time and a full discussion and exchange of views resulted in substantial agreement on a few essential points which the committee have kept before them in all this investigation and search 1st – It was believed that the present condition and needs of the church require the services of a young and growing man of assured success as pastor and preacher. 2d It was considered that such a man would be most likely to be found employed and out of reach of the ordinary system of candidacy: in view of this and the unfortunate differences and divisions which so often result from having a number of candidates some of whom please one class and some another, it was recommended by the Committee and concurred in by a resolution of the Session that no possible candidate should be admitted to the pulpit until a thorough investigation had been made and recommendation given by the Committee. 3d It was felt that such a man as we could heartily recommend as suited to the needs of the church and able to satisfactorily perform the duties devolving upon its pastor would be worthy of a hearty and generous support, and inasmuch as this church is without a parsonage, and it has been found difficult to always rent a house adapted to the needs of a pastor, it appeared to your committee essential that this part of the provision for the comfort of the minister should receive immediate attention and steps taken to raise the sum required to buy or build a parsonage. Early in our work the name of Rev. Martin D. Kneeland of Waterloo N.Y. was suggested to the committee in a way that invited further investigation. Correspondence was instituted regarding him, and three members of the church including two of the committee visited Waterloo and attended the services of his church one Sabbath. An exchange between Mr. Kneeland and the pastor of LaFayette St Church, Buffalo, as the former was on his way to the General Assembly at Springfield, Ill. Afforded opportunity for others of the church and committee(?) to hear him preach. He was invited to visit Fredonia, which he did, spending a day and night with us and meeting socially most of the members of the church Session and committee, these opportunities for seeing and knowing Mr. Kneeland strengthened the impression that he was the best fitted for our work and the most available of any within our knowledge and reach. We did not however confine our efforts to him alone but had correspondence with and about ten or twelve other possible candidates and read, inquired about and looked up the records of many men. Of this whole number of ministers thus considered, there were a few others whom your committee could have recommended but it would have been clearly wrong to have disturbed existing relations as the Churches needed these pastors; and they had no desire to change. In addition to the opportunities for judging personally of Mr. Kneeland’s character and work we have received many testimonials from which we present a few extracts (here followed the extracts from letters, etc.) It was Mr. Kneeland’s desire and purpose not to appear as a candidate and does not now as in any sense an applicant for the place but his yielding his judgment and feelings to the wishes of your committee in occupying the pulpit each Sabbath on his return from the west he has offered an opportunity for all to see and hear him, and thus enable you to estimate in the light of personal impressions the testimony and recommendations we present. In view of the foregoing considerations your committee have respectfully to recommend
1. that Rev. Martin D. Kneeland of Waterloo N.Y. be called to the pastorals of this church.
2. that his compensation be fixed at $1800 dollars per annum, with parsonage and moving expenses additional.
3. that the steps be taken at once to raise the necessary funds to provide a parsonage for the church as respectfully submitted R. P. Clement, Secretary. Signed Geo. L. White, Chairman
On motion the report of the committee was accepted. On motion of L. A. Barmore it was moved that Martin D. Kneeland be called as pastor of this church. This motion was carried. A motion was then made by J. B. Forbes that the compensation shall be 1600 dollars per year and Parsonage be furnished him & moving Expenses from Waterloo N.Y. to Fredonia be allowed him. That a month vacation Each year be allowed him. This motion was amended on motion of O. R. Burchard inserting 1800 dollars in place of 1600 dollars. Motion as amended was carried.
On motion it was moved and carried that steps be taken at once to raise necessary funds to provide a parsonage for the church and that T. S. Hubbard, R. P. Clement, Geo. Hutchinson, O.R. Burchard and O. W. Johnson be and are appointed a committee to raise funds for a parsonage and that this committee be authorized to purchase or build such parsonage when forty five hundred to five thousand dollars shall be raised for this purpose.
It was also moved and carried that the committee heretofore mentioned for securing a pastor be authorized to make a call to the Rev. Martin D. Kneeland in accordance with the action of this meeting and to take all necessary steps to(?) prosecute(?) said call. The proceedings of the last Special meeting of this church and Society were read & on motion approved. On motion adjourned.
1882
At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret in their church on Tuesday the 3d day of October 1882 on motion George L. White was elected Chairman. On motion of R. P. Clement the minutes and proceedings of the last annual meeting were read and approved. Also the proceedings and minutes of the last Special meetings of the Church and Society were read & approved.
The Treasurer’s report was read & on motion accepted and approved.
On motion of J.B. Forbes, Geo. L. White and Eli Roberts were Elected Trustees of this society for the regular term of three (3) years by ballot.
On motion O. R. Burchard’s place as trustee was declared vacant by his removal and absence from place. On motion John Hunn was Elected by ballot as Trustee in place of O. R. Burchard & to fill his unexpired term ending Oct. 1884.
On motion R. P. Clement’s resignation of the office of Trustee was accepted. On motion T. S. Hubbard was Elected Trustee of this Society by ballot for the unexpired term for which R. P. Clement was chosen which term Expires Oct. 1883. On motion Jas. B. Carruth was Elected Clerk for the Ensuing year. On motion the Following ushers were appointed: J. B. Forbes, John Miller, Frank Wheeler, Joseph W. Carruth, Leonard I. Young, W. V. Smith, Chas. Wygant & Henry McNeill. The committee appointed at the last Special Meeting on the Parsonage informally report that about $5500 has been pledged and that they have purchased a lot for the Parsonage and they ask that their authority be extended to the raising of $6000 instead of or in place of the 5000 dollars first granted. On motion this extension for the above purpose of raising the six thousand dollars was authorized and the motion carried. On motion the meeting adjourned.
1883
At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret at their Church on Tuesday the second day of October 1883. Prayer was offered by Wm. Fraser. On motion Eli Roberts was chosen Chairman. On motion the minutes and proceedings of the last annual meeting were read and approved. The Treasurers report was called for and in the absence of the Treasurer R. P. Clement, Mr. T. S. Hubbard made a statement as follows, Total indebtedness on parsonage and current expenses account amounts to about Eight hundred dollars as near as I can estimate them. On motion George Hutchinson and T. S. Hubbard were elected Trustees of this society for the regular terms of three years by ballot each separately.
On motion a ballot was taken and Prof. A.Y. Freeman was Elected Trustee of this Society to fill the unexpired term of Prof. Geo. L. White made vacant by his removal to a distant State and whose term expires 1885.
James B. Carruth was elected Clerk for the ensuing year.
Wm. Fraser and J. B. Wygant were appointed a committee to examine the collectors reports or accounts and to report to the Trustees.
On motion of T. S. Hubbard, J. B. Wygant and George Hutchinson were appointed a Committee to solicit subscriptions for the payment of the debt of the Church & Society.
On motion J. B. Wygant and Wm. Fraser were appointed a committee to examine the Treasurers report and themselves to report to the Trustees.
On motion the following persons were chosen ushers for the ensuing year Fred Keller, Wm. Smith, Leonard I. Young, Chas. Wygant, Theo. Clark, T. S. Hubbard, John B. Forbes, Eli Roberts. On motion adjourned.

At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret at their Church on Tuesday the Seventh day of October 1884 On motion Eli Roberts was chosen Chairman. Prayer was offered by D. Gilbert. The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and approved. The Treasurers report was read by T. S. Hubbard in absence of H. J. Clark the Treasurer Mr. Clark being too ill for attendance at this meeting. On motion of Eli Roberts the account of receipts and expenditures of the Society for the last thirteen months shall be handed to the society Clerk for entry in these minutes by the trustees. On motion of Mr. Hubbard it was required that the Ladies of the society be asked to assist in raising the deficiency arising from shortage in rental of Pews. On motion J. Henry Clark and John W. Hunn were elected separately by ballot for Trustees for the regular terms of three years from this date.

The congregation of the Presbyterian Church Fredonia N.Y. met at the joint request of the Session and Board of Trustees after the morning service Sabbath Nov. 29 1887 to take action on the resignation of Rev. M. D. Kneeland D. D. as Pastor of the Church.
The meeting was organized by calling Deacon Eli Roberts to Preside. The resignation of Dr. Kneeland was read.
On motion it was voted that the church unite with Dr. Kneeland in requesting that the pastoral relations be dissolved. W. McKinstry Esq. was duly delegated to represent the Church and Congregation in presenting the action of the church to Presbytery. On motion Messrs. John Hamilton Jr., W. McKinstry, Dr. N. G. Richmond, Prof. A. Y. Freeman, O. W. Smith, W. S. Rann, and Geo. L. White were appointed a committee to recommend to the church and congregation a Suitable man as pastor of the Church. Adjourned and the meeting closed with prayer.
Fredonia NY Nov 27 1887
April 21 1888 Pursuant to the the call of the Session in due form the congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Fredonia N.Y. convened in the Lecture Room of the church Saturday April 21 1888 to hear the report of the Committee appointed to recommend a Suitable minister as pastor of the Church. The meeting was called to order and opened with prayer by Rev.(?) C. Burgess moderator. The moderator explained the object of the meeting and the proper method of procedure in the election of pastor. The minutes of the vote calling the meeting was read. The report of the committee was read and accepted. On motion of John W. Hunn the congregation proceeded to elect a Pastor by ballot. The moderator announced the result -- Eighty Eight votes were cast. Eighty being in favor of Rev. Thos. E. Calvert(?) as pastor and Eight opposed. On motion of O. W. Johnson Esq. the call was made unanimous.
On motion of O. O. Smith Esq. the recommendation of the committee that Mr. Calvert be paid for his support(?) the sum of eleven hundred dollars per annum with the use of the parsonage was approved. Prof. Geo. L. White was chosen to represent the Church and O. W. Johnson Esq the congregation in presenting the call to the Presbytery.
On motion of Prof. T. C. Burgess the members of the Session and board of Trustees were authorized to sign the call. After remarks by the moderator the meeting was closed with prayer and the benediction.
1888
At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held in their church in Fredonia NY on Tuesday the second day of October 1888. Ezra(?) Ely offered prayer on motion Eli Roberts was chosen Chairman.
The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and approved. On motion Eli Roberts and J. B. Wygant were each separately elected Trustees for the regular term of three years from this date and Leonard I. Young was elected trustee to fill vacancy occasioned by the death of John W. Shifferli all by ballot -- Jas. B. Carruth having been chosen Clerk for the ensuing year.
If for any reason the Clerk should be absent or his place vacant the Clerks duties may be performed by the secretary of the board of Trustees acting as and in place of the above named Clerk.

At the annual meeting of the first Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held in their Church in Fredonia NY on Tuesday the first day of October 1889 Eli Roberts was chosen Chairman. Prayer was offered by J. B. Wygant. The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and approved. On motion Jas. B. Carruth was chosen Clerk for the ensuing year. On motion Mrs. Harriet Hale and Nathan A. Putnam were each separately elected Trustees for the regular term of three years from this date. The following persons were chosen ushers for the ensuing year Leonard Young, Harmon(?) Wolbur(?), W. S. Hart, J. H. Clark, John Hunn and Mr. Hopkins(?). The report of the Treasurer J. H. Clark was read and approved and entered as follows.

Leonard J. Young, Harrison Wolber, W. S. Hart, J. H. Clark, John Hunn and Mr. Hopkins. On motion of O. W. Johnson it was resolved that the annual meeting if there are no legal bars to it be changed to Dec on action of the trustees. Resolved also that collectors Report to the Treasurer all their collections quarterly. The report of J. H. 1892
The regular Annual meeting of the members of the First Presbyterian Society of Pomfret was held pursuant to notice in their church on Dec 6 1892. Prayer was offered by Bro. Robinson. J. B. Wygant was chosen chairman. The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and approved. The resignation of J. B. Carruth as clerk was received and accepted. On motion a vote of thanks was given Mr. Carruth for his long and faithful service. On motion Jno. W. Hunn was chosen clerk of the Society. H. C. Robinson was chosen clerk protem. On motion of W. McKinstry a vote of thanks was given Mrs. Hale and others who had raised $1144.28 to pay the indebtedness of the church. On motion Jno. W. Hunn and W. L. Hart were elected trustees to serve three years. Lewis Roesch to serve two years in place Dr. Dods resigned, and Fred W. Case to serve one year in place of Martha Stevens resigned. Motion carried that a committee of(?) three be appointed by the chairmen to investigate as to the rights and privileges of the congregation. W. McKinstry, Prof. Burgess and Geo. Hutchinson were appointed such a committee. The following report of the Treas was read and on motion adopted. On motion adjourned.

The Annual Meeting of the First Presbyterian church and society of Pomfret was held pursuant to notice Dec 5 1893 in their church at 4 P.M. Prayer was offered by J. B. Wygant. On motion Mr. Wygant was chosen chairman. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. On motion F. W. Case and O. O. Smith were elected trustees to serve the unexpired terms of O. W. Johnson and Dr. Dodds which expired in 1894. On motion Leonard Young, H. W. Wolber, William Hart and J. W. Hunn were elected ushers for ensuing year. To look into the matter of Insurance on church at a less premium J.(?) W.(?) Henry(?) and W. L. Hart were named as a special committee by the chair. Prayer was offered by offered and on motion of Louis Rosche Mr. J. B. Wygant was made chairman and J. W. Hunn Secty. Minutes of last annual meeting were read & approved. On motion the following were elected trustees to serve for the term of two years which term expires in 1898.

At the meeting of the First Presbyterian church and Society of Pomfret held at their church in Fredonia N.Y. Dec 5/1899 meeting called to order by Mr. Leonard Young. Dr. Nelson G. Richmond was made chairman and J. W. Hunn Clerk. Prayer was offered by the Rev. Mr. Cleveland, after which Report of Treasurer was read. Adoption of the same was moved by Mr. Harman(?) Wolber. The election of Trustees being next in order. The following gentlemen were Elected for 3 years Mr. French, Mr. Young, Mr. Hart and for one year Mr. Roesch, Mr. Case. Following elections of Trustees Dr. Richmond & Rev. Mr. Cleveland addressed the meeting, after which a vote of thanks was moved by Mr. Young and voted by the meeting.
1900
At the annual meeting of the First Presb Church and Society of Pomfret held in their church parlors on the 3rd day of Dec 1900 at 7.30 P.M. Prayer by the pastor Rev. E. S. Cleveland. Dr. N. G. Richmond was chosen chairman. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. On motion Dr. N. G. Richmond and Louis Roesch were nominated and elected Trustees to serve for three years their terms expiring Dec 1 1903. Reading of Treasurers Report. It was moved by Mr. French that the same be accepted and placed on file adapted. Moved by Mr. Hart that Stanley Martin, Mome(?) Sweatland(?), Harry Harrison, Scherral(?) Cleveland, Mr. Pratt & Guy(?) Tambling be elected ushers. Carried & clerk was instructed to notify. On motion of Mr. Hart, Mr. Louis Rosche was given a vote of thanks for donating Fruiting(?) and ornamental shade trees on the lawn of the church. On Motion of Mr. Young meeting was adjourned. J. W. At the meeting of First Presbyterian Church & Society held at the parsonage Dec 18th 7.30 PM. Called to order by Dr. Nelson G. Richmond. Elder H. C. Robinson was chosen chairman. Prayer was offered by our pastor Rev E. S. Cleveland. There being no vacancies in the board of Trustees no election was made. The Minutes of last annual meeting being read and approved. The next business was the reading of the Treasures Report it being the most satisfactory of any such Report which had been made in several years. The Society being at this date out of debt and money in the Treasurey[sic] for the first time since 1894. The adoption of the Report was moved. Carried unanimously. Followed by congratulatory Remarks by Dr. Richmond & others. Moved by Prof. Freeman that the board of Trustees be given a vote of thanks for their services in bringing the church & Society to its present prosperous condition financially. Carried with much enthusiasm. Also it was moved and carried that our Treasurer Mr. Wm(?) Hart be given a vote of Thanks for his verry[sic] efficient services as Treasurer for so many years. The same being carried with much enthusiasm. Moved by Dr. Richmond that Harlem Freeman be named as an usher to take the place of Morice Sweatland who would be out of town the most of the church year. Carried. The ushers for the present year being Stanley Martin, Harry Harrisan, Sherrll(?) Cleveland, Guy Tambling and Harlin Freeman and it was moved & carried that the ushers be given a vote of thanks for so faithfully performing their duties the past year. At the suggestion of the chairman Mrs. Walter Gibbs was called to preside at the piano, and all joined in singing. Praise God from whom all blessings flow after which the meeting was adjourned to hold a social hour and partake of refreshments.
1902
The annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Church & Society was held pursuant to notice in their church on Monday evening Dec 8th at 7.30 PM. Elder H. C. Robinson was chosen chairman. J. W. Hunn was chosen clerk. Prayer was offered [by] our pastor. The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. On motion Mr. L. J. Young was elected Trustee to serve for 2 years term expiring Dec 1 1904. On motion Mr. W. L. Hart & A. F. French were elected trustees to serve three years terms expiring Dec 1/1905. On motion Mr. Sidney Roesch was elected usher to succeed Mr. Harry Harrisan who has left town. After the reading of the Treasurers Report it was moved & seconded that the same be received and placed on file and on motion of Dr. Richmond, our Treasurer was given a vote of thanks for his long and faithful service. On motion meeting adjourned.
1903
The annual meeting of the first Presbyterian Church & Society of Pomfret was held persuant[sic] to notice Dec 1st 1903 in their church at 7.30 PM. The meeting was called to order by Dr. N. G. Richmond, who upon motion of Cam(?) Holcomb was chosen Chairman for the evening. On motion J. W. Hunn was elected Clerk. After prayer by our pastor the minutes of last meeting were read after which our Treasurer Mr. W. L. Hart read his annual report which upon motion of Mr. Robinson 2nd by Mr. Gould was voted to be accepted & placed on file. On motion of Cam(?) Holcomb 2nd by Mr. French, Dr. N. G. Richmond and Mr. Louis Roesch were elected Trustees to succeed them selves their terms of office to expire Dec 1st/(?) There being no other business to come before this meeting it was moved to adjourn after which the Ladies of the congregation served light Refreshments & members of the Choir favored us with selections of Music.
1904
The annual meeting of the first Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret was held pursuant to notice Dec 2nd 1904 in the Church Parlor at 7.30 PM. On motion of commissioner(?) Holcomb, Dr. Richmond was elected chairman and J. W. Hunn Clerk. Prayer was offered by our pastor Mr. Cleveland. Minutes of the last annual meeting were read for the instruction of those present, followed by the reading of the Treasures[sic] report which upon motion of Mr. Gould, was voted to be accepted and placed on file. Following the reading of the Treasurers Report, was a general discussion of the Church finances for the coming year, as reported by the different committee who had the matter in charge. The out look seemed(?) to indicate a shortage of about $150.00 to meet the fiscal[sic] expenses for the year. On Motion of Mr. Cory, seconded by Mr. Hart it was voted to change the number of Trustees from 5 to 7. On motion of Commissioner Holcomb & seconded by Mr. Hart. Mr. L. J. Young was elected trustee to succeed him self, and Mr. James Adams, and Mr. Frank Kaughman were elected the new additional Trustees, the terms of these three trustees expires Dec 1/1907. After the Reading of the Minutes, which were adopted, meeting adjourned.
1905
The annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret was held in their Church, pursuant to notice Dec 7th 1905. Meeting was called to order by Dr. Richmond, and upon motion of Mr. Gould. Mr. W. L. Hart was elected chairman and J. W. Hunn Clerk. Prayer was offered by our pastor. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Upon motion of Mr. Robinson, Mr. W. L. Hart and Mr. A. F. French, were elected to succeed them selves as Trustees, their terms of office to expire Dec 1/1908. Next in order was the reading of the Treasurers Report, which upon Motion of Mr. Holcomb was voted to be accepted & placed on file. Following general remarks by Dr. Richmond, Com Holcomb, Mr. Cleveland and Mr. Robinson, the thanks of our Church and Society were unanimously voted the board of Trustees for their valuable service on behalf of the Church & Society. 1906
The annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret was held in their Church pursuant to notice Dec 4th 1906. Dr. Nelson G. Richmond was chosen chairman. J. W. Hunn was chosen clerk. Prayer was offered by the pastor. The minutes of last meeting were read and approved, after which the Treasurers Report was read. Upon motion of Mr. Robinson, it was voted that the Treasurers Report be accepted and placed on file. Following the reading of the Treasurers Report, estimates of the receipts and expenditures for the next church year, were read and discussed. Indications are that the receipts for this year will be about $150.00 short of the expenditures or fixed charges of the Society. On motion of Mr. Robinson 2nd by W. O. Smith, Mr. Louis Roesch, and Dr. Nelson G. Richmond, were unanimously elected as Trustees to succeed them selves, their term of office to expire Dec 1909. On motion of W. V. Smith it was voted to have the annual financial report printed and copies of same mailed to each family of the church. On motion voted to adjourn.
1907
At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret at their Church on Thursday evening. Dec 5th 1907. Meeting called to order by Dr. Nelson G. Richmond. On motion Prof. A. Y. Freeman was chosen chairman, J. W. Hunn Secy. Prayer was offered by the pastor Rev. E. S. Cleveland. Minutes of last meeting were read for the instruction of those present, after which the Treasures Report was read by Mr. William(?) Roesch, which showed a much more favorable conditions of our financial conditions for the past year than seemed possible at the previous annual meeting. Upon motion of Dr. Richmond it was voted that the Trea’s Report be adopted and placed on file. Mr. Roesch also gave an “estimated” report upon the pledged and anticipated subscriptions for the church year of 1907 & 1908 from which there would seem to be a prospective deficit of about $200.00 caused by deaths, removals(?) & reduction of subscriptions to the maintenance of the church. The next in order being the election of Two Trustees in place of L. J. Young and James A. Adams whose terms of office expire with this meeting. It was moved and seconded that these Two gentlemen be reelected to succeed them selves and was carried unanimously. The Treasurers Report showed a donation to our Society funds of $28.00 as having come from the German Lutheran Church of Dunkirk, and upon inquiring it was learned that the above society had disbanded, and sold their church property, the different members, not taking their pro sotie(?) interest for them selves, were allowed to name such institution as they wished their each individual share to be given. Mr. Chas. J. Hart father of our former Treasurer Wm. L. Hart requested that his share of $28.00 be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Pomfret. Upon motion of Mr. Geo. L. Knight a vote of thanks to Mr. Hart was unanimously voted for the abrupt(?)/above(?) gift. It having been stated by Dr. Richmond that oweing to ill health and a pressure of personal business, Mr. Louis Rosch was obliged to give up the Treasurership of our Society. It was moved & unanimously carried that Mr. Roesch be given a vote of thanks for his service as Treasurer. Mr. Carl A. Thother will succeed Mr. Roesch as Treasurer. Upon motion J. W. Hunn was elected Secretary for the ensuing year. Upon motion of Dr. Richmond meeting adjourned.
1908
At the annual meeting of the first Presbyterian Society of Pomfret held in the parlors of their church December 3rd 1908 7.30 PM. Meeting was called to order and on motion Dr. N. G. Richmond was elected Chairman, and J. W. Hunn Clerk. Prayer was offered by our pastor after which minutes of last meeting read for the information of those present. The Treasurers Report was then read and upon motion same was accepted and ordered placed on file. The Election of Two Trustees in place of W. L. Hart & A. F. French whose terms expire (?) this meeting being next in order. Mr. Hart & Mr. French were elected to succeed them selves their terms of office to expire on the regular annual meeting of this Society in 1911. There being no other business to come before this meeting. On motion it was voted to adjourn.

Congregational Church Meeting called by Request of our Pastor for Oct. 21st 1909 in church Parlors. Prof. Freeman as chairman pro tem called the meeting to order. On motion voted that Dr. Richmond act as chairman carried. Prayer was offered by our pastor. On motion voted that Richard Hall act as Secy. On motion voted that this congregation regretfully accepts the resignation of our pastor Rev. E. P. Cleveland. Remarks by Mr. Cleveland. On motion voted that two commissioners be appointed to present the Pastors Resignation to the Presbytery. Such commissioners to be Prof. A. Y. Freeman and Dr. N. G. Richmond, (?). On motion voted Mr. Robinson & Dr. Richmond be a committee to look after the Pulpit Supply. Carried. On motion of Mr. Wolber voted that Prez Freeman, Prof McEwen, and Dr. Richmond be the committee to take the necessary steps towards permanently supplying Pulpit and to recommend their choice for pastor to the congregation. Carried. Prof. Freeman suggested that the congregation should not consider each man who supplied the pulpit as a possible candidate for pastor. Mr. Hart suggested that the committee seek(?) some one to supply the pulpit each Sunday until the permanent pastor has been appointed. Remarks by Dr. Hollister, Miss Treadway, Prof. Dahl, Mr. Smith & Mr. Cleveland. Minutes read corrected and approved. No further business to come before this meeting. Voted to adjourn.

The regular Annual Meeting of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret was held in their Church on Thursday evening December 2nd. Meeting was called to order by Mr. W. L. Hart and upon motion Dr. N. G. Richmond was elected chairman and J. W. Hunn Sec’y. The meeting was opened by Prayer by Mr. Robinson after which minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Upon motion of Mr. Gould, seconded by Mr. Hart, Dr. N. G. Richmond and Mr. Louis Roesch were elected trustees to succeed themselves, their terms of office to expire 1912. The treasures Report was read, and the same voted to be accepted. After the reading of a letter from Arborn(?) Seminary recommending supply for pulpit on Sunday Dec 5th. Remarks were made by many of those present with Refference to calling a permanent pastor, after which upon motion of Mr. Wolbur the meeting adjourned.

At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret held in the parlors of their church on Thursday evening Dec 1st 1910. Meeting was called to order by Dr. N. G. Richmond and upon motion Dr. Richmond was made chairman, and J. W. Hunn Secretary. After prayer by our pastor. Minutes of last annual meeting were read for the information of those present. On motion of Mr. Wolbur and second by Mr. Gould the secretary was instructed by the meeting to cast a ballot for Leonard J. Young, J. Frank Kaughman and James Adams as trustees to succeed themselves, their terms of office to expire with the regular annual meeting in 1913. Treasurers Report was read and on motion the same was voted to be received and the same placed on file. Following the reading of the Treasurers Report there was a general discussion regarding the present and prospective financial situation of the society. From reports read there seems(?) to be a verry satisfactory condition of the Resources of the Society. On motion the meeting then adjourned.

At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret held in the parlors of their Church Wednesday evening Dec 6/1911. Meeting was called to order by the pastor Rev. Stanley Upton Mock. Upon motion W. L. Hart was elected Chairman and J. W. Hunn Secretary. Prayer was offered by the Rev. Stanley Upton Mock. Minutes of last meeting which were read and and[sic] approved at that time were read again for the information of those present. Upon Motion the secretary was instructed to cast a ballot for W. L. Hart and A. F. French for trustees to succeed them selves, their terms of office to expire with the regular annual meeting in 1914. Treasurer Karl Thatcher read his annual report of receipts and expenditures for the past year. Also read his report on the estimated amt of money required to meet the expenses of the church for the ensuing year, which seemed(?) to indicate a shortage of about seven hundred dollars more than had been pledged to date both reports were voted to be received and placed on file. Upon motion of our pastor the Rev. Stanley Upton Mock and seconded by Mr. Rosche it was voted to hold our Regular Annual Meetings in the f(?) on the first Thursday following the 1st Sunday in December, as by having a stated date upon which our annual meetings are to be held the Society would more closely comply with a state law governing societies of this kind upon motion which was seconded meeting was adjourned.

At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian church and Society of Pomfret Dec 5/1912 at 7.30 PM upon motion, Mr. A. F. French was choosen[sic] Chairman J. W. Hunn Secretary. After prayer by the pastor Rev. S. U. Mock the meeting proceeded to its regular order of business the first being the Election of two trustees in the place of Dr. Richmond and Mr. Louis Roesch whose terms of office expire with this meeting. Upon motion of Miss Lottie Thatcher, seconded by Mr. W. L. Hart the Secretary was instructed to cast ballots for Dr. N. G. Richmond and Mr. Louis Rosche[sic] to succeed themselves, their terms of office expiring Dec 1915. Following the Election of Trustees, Treasurer Karl Thatcher read his report of Receipts and Expenditures for the past year, the same showing the receipts were about $300.00 less than the amt required to meet the current expenses for the year. Following the Reading of the Treasurers Report general discussion as to how to get more revenue to meet the necessary expenses of the Society which for the ensuing year will amount to about Twenty Eight hundred dollars $2,800 engaged the attention of the meeting after which the Report was voted to be received and placed on file. Following a discussion relitive[sic] to our System of making annual pledges for the support of the church, a motion was made by the Rev. S. U. Mock and seconded by Mr. Pratt that the pledges in the future be considered continuous from year to year unless the giver give notice of a change or discontinuance. Passed by unanimous vote. On motion of Mr. W. L. Hart and seconded by Mr. Mock the Treasurers Report is to be published also Mr. Hart as auditor of the church finance a/c complemented Mr. Thatcher upon the accuracy of his accounts, and moved that he be given a vote of thanks for his services in the past and reelected for the ensuing year which was voted unanimously. Upon motion the meeting was adjourned.

At the annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret held the parlors of the Church Dec 4th 1913 at 7.30 PM the meeting was called to order by Dr. Richmond who was elected chairman. After prayer by the Rev. Mr. Larabee Minutes of the previous meeting were read for the Information of those present. Upon vote of the meeting Mr. James Adams, Leonard Young and J. Franck Kaughman were elected trustees to succeed themselves, their terms of office to expire December 1916. The Treasurer Mr. Karl Thatcher read his Report of Receipts and Expenditures for the past year. Also an approximate statement of Receipts and expenditures for the ensuing year which the later [latter?] showing a possible deficit of about $168.00 On motion Report of Treasurer was voted to be accepted. After the Regular order of business was closed there followed a general discussion in regard to arrangements for the future heating of the church as the prospect of getting heat another year from the Steam(?) plant was not encouraging. Mr. A. H.(?) French and J. W. Hunn were named a committee to arrange for other means of heating the church in case it was impossible to get Steam from the local plant. Upon motion of Mr. Ralcomb(?) and seconded by W. V. Smith Mr. Karl Thatcher who has so faithfully served the church as Treasurer was unanimously elected for another year. At the regular annual meeting of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret held in the parlors of their Church Friday evening Dec 4/1914 by vote of the meeting Dr. N. G. Richmond was unanimously elected Chairman, and the meeting opened by prayer by our pastor Rev. Mr. Larabee. Following Mr. Larabees prayer the secretary was called upon to read the minutes of previous meeting for the information of those present. Next in order was the election of two trustees to succeed W. L. Hart & A.(?) F. French. Upon motion which was seconded the Secretary was instructed to cast a ballot for Mr. W. L. Hart and Mr. A. F. French trustees to succeed themselves, their terms of office to expire Dec 1917. Said ballots being duly cast Mr. Hart & French were duly declared elected. Church Treasurer Karl Thatcher being called upon for his annual Report the same was read by him and in addition(?) the Report was given a blackboard exhibit which displayed the money situation of the Society – still more thoroughly to those present(?). The Report shows a deficit of about $268.00 when compaired[sic] as an estimated income(?) and an estimated resource of the Society for the church year 1914 & 1915. Following the discussion of the financial situation of the society – the Treasurers Report was voted to be accepted and a rising vote of thanks given Treasurer Thatcher for his faithful and patient care and attention to the more or less discouraging job of church Treasurer, and as a further evidence of our appreciation of Bro. Thatchers long service as financial agent of the Society – he and Miss(?)/Mrs.(?) Lottie Thatcher were presented with a beautiful office desk, which was accepted in behalf of the donees by the pastor. Next in order came the selection of a Treasurer to succeed Mr. Thatcher who announced that he could no longer continue this service to the Church. Miss Jacoba Bakers name being proposed she was unanimously elected to succeed Mr. Thatcher as Treasurer of this society. Minutes of the Annual Meeting of the First Presbyterian church and Society of the town of Pomfret, held in the parlors of the church, Dec. 9th 1915. The meeting was opened with prayer by the pastor, Rev. B. F. Larrabee. Mr. A. F. French was chosen chairman. The Secretary being absent on motion H. C. Robinson was chosen Secretary pro tem. On motion Mr. John W. Hunn was elected to succeed himself as Secretary. On motion Mr. Allen Bartlett was elected Treasurer for one year. On motion Mr. Louis Roesch and Dr. N. G. Richmond were elected trustees to succeed themselves for three years. The Clerk being instructed to so cast a ballot. The Treasurer’s Report was read by Mr. W. L. Hart. On motion the report was accepted, approved and ordered placed on file. On motion a vote of thanks was given Miss Jacoba Baker for her faithful service as Treasurer, and to Mr. W. L. Hart for his service as Auditor. A vote of thanks was given to the Ladies Aid Society for the work done in the cleaning and relaying the carpets and making needed improvements in the church(?). Also for their gift of a beautiful Communion Table and Chair, purchased with money left them by Miss Joanna Loeb for a memorial. The thanks of the church were also extended to Mrs. Mary Strunk for the Fount given in memory of her mother, Mrs. Love Bosworth Snow, who was a faithful member of the church for seventy-eight years. After discussion of other matters of interest to the church, on motion, the meeting adjourned.

Hunn be elected Clerk for the ensuing year to succeed himself. Carried unanimously. On motion Allen W. Bartlett was elected Treasurer of the Society for the ensuing year. On motion Jas. R. Adams, Leonard Young and J. H. F. Kaufman be elected Trustees for the term of three years to succeed themselves and the Secty instructed to cast one ballot and they were declared duly elected. Annual Meeting of the members of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret was held in the parlors of the church, Fredonia, on Wed. Dec 5, 1917 7.30 P.M. On motion Dr. Richmond was chosen chairman and H. C. Robinson Secty of the meeting. Prayer was offered by the Pastor. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. On motion John W. Hunn be elected Clerk for the ensuing year to succeed himself. On motion that A. F. French and W. L. Hart be elected Trustees for the regular term of three years to succeed themselves. Carried. The meeting next proceeded to the election of a Treasurer to succeed Mr. Allan W. Bartlett, Mr. Bartlett stating he could not accept the position further. On motion Mrs. Kincaid was unanimously chosen as Treasurer for the ensuing year at $50.00. A vote of thanks was given Mr. Bartlett the retiring Treasurer for his faithful service. Following a statement that the balance due on the Furnace fund had been donated by certain persons, unknown to the Church, on motion Mrs. Richmond was appointed a committee to express to the Donors the gratitude of the Church. Hart Secretary of the meeting. Prayer was offered by our Pastor Mr. Larrabee. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Mr. Jno W. Hunn was elected Clerk for the ensuing year to succeed himself. Meeting next proceeded to the election of two Trustees in the place of Dr. N. G. Richmond and Lewis Roesch whose term expires. On motion, which was duly seconded, Dr. N. G. Richmond and Lewis Roesch were nominated to succeed them selves and the Secty was directed to cast one ballot and they were declared duly elected. The Treasurer made a report of the monies received and paid out during the year and on motion the Treasurers report was accepted and ordered placed on file. An expression of thanks to the Treasurer for faithful and careful work was given by a rising vote. The Treasurer Mrs. Kincaid stated she could not accept the office of Treasurer for the coming year and on motion Miss Clara J. Brown was duly elected to the office of Treasurer to serve the ensuing year. Mr. W. L. The Annual Meeting of the members of the First Presbyterian Church and Society was held in the Church Parlors Thurs Dec 11th 1919 at 7.30 P.M. according to notice read from the Pulpit for two Sundays previous to the meeting. Dr. N. G. Richmond was chosen chairman and Wm. L. Hart Secty of the meeting. Prayer was offered by Prof. Freeman. Minutes of the last meeting were read. John W. Hunn was unanimously elected Clerk of the Society to succeed himself. The following Trustees term of office expires – Leonard I. Young, Jas. R. Adams and J. H. F. Kaufman. On motion duly seconded Mrs. Lucy H. Parker, James R. Adams and J. H. F. Kaufman were nominated to serve as Trustees for the full term of three years and the Secretary was ordered to cast one ballot and they were duly declared elected. The Report of the Treasurer was read and showed a small balance on hand after all pledges are paid in and expenses paid, and it was ordered placed on file. Miss Clara J. Brown stated she could not accept the office of Treasurer for the coming year and on motion Wm. V. Smith was nominated and unanimously elected to serve the ensuing year. The following letter from our Pastor Benj. R. Larrabee tendering his resignation as pastor this church was read – To the Session and Members of the First Presbyterian Church, Fredonia NY. Each of my physicians has advised me, that because of my recent illness I ought not to engage in active church work for some time. For this reason and this reason alone, I am hereby presenting my resignation as minister of the church, to take effect immediately. These six years have been the richest and best of my service as a minister of Jesus Christ. I am deeply grateful for all the Church has done for me my family, and for your cooperation in so many ways. Because my heart is in the best interest of the Church, and because I think you ought not to be without a minister longer than necessary, I am presenting my resignation at this time rather than to wait until a later date. I should be pleased if the Church would appoint Dr. Nelson G. Richmond and Wm. L. Hart to be the delegates from the session to ask the Presbytery of Buffalo for the dissolving of the pastoral relation. I shall of course act as moderator of the Session until formal action by the Presbytery. If there is any possible service I can render in helping you to secure my successor, it will make me happy to be of help to you. The Annual Meeting of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret, was held in the Church parlors Dec. 8th 1920. On motion Dr. N. G. Richmond was chosen Chairman, and H. C. Robinson Clerk of the meeting. Minutes of the last annual Meeting were read by W. L. Hart. Nominations for church clerk were made as follows Mr. John Foster, Mr. De Forest Pratt, Mr. L. C. Steele. Upon ballot Mr. Foster received 5, Mr. Pratt 14 & Mr. Steele 8. On motion voted Mr. De Forest Pratt was unanimously elected. On motion the clerk was instructed to cast one ballot for Mr. A. F. French and Mr. W. L. Hart to succeed themselves as Trustees, for three years. The report of the Treasurer was read by Mr. Hart, in the absence of Mr. Smith. This meeting also expresses the wish that the dramatization of the Bible stories, such as was done Sunday at the vesper service be continued. On motion this meeting expressed their appreciation of the faithful and generous service of the officers of the church. Mr. Henry Stone gave secretary’s report of the Sunday School. The Annual Meeting of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret was held at the White Inn(?) Dec. 9 1925 at 7:30 P.M. After a bounteous repast(?) the meeting was called to order by De Forest Pratt and Dr. N. G. Richmond was chosen chairman. Prayer by Rev. George H. Allen of Bath N.Y. who was the speaker of the evening. Minutes of last meeting read and approved. On motion, Mrs. J. J. Parker, Mr. J. H. Frank Kaufman, and Mr. Harry Clark were chosen Trustees for (?). Report of Treasuer Mr. Day Hover and on motion voted that the report be received and incorporated in the minutes. On motion Mr. De Forest Pratt was elected clerk for the ensuing year. On motion Mr. Day Hover was elected treasurer for the ensuing year. Remarks by Mr. W. L. Hart as to the fine financial condition of the church and the excellent work of our pastor and wife Mr. & Mrs. Walter A. Hendrics[sic]. The Annual Meeting of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret was held in the parlors of the church Dec 1926 at (?) P.M. Mr. W. L. Hart was chosen chairman. Minutes of the last regular meeting read and approved. Report of the Treasurer was given by W. L. Hart for Day Hover. On motion voted that the report be received and put(?) in the record book. On motion Mr. A. F. French and W. L. Hart were elected Trustees for 3 years. Resignation of Dr. N. G. Richmond read(?). Dr. Richmond stated that as he would be(?) away from Fredonia a great deal of the time that he thought it best to resign a trustee of the Church. On motion voted that the resignation of Dr. Richmond be received and that the church (?) his long and faithful services as trustee and that he be notified of the action. A Nominating committee comprised of Mr. Mc(?) Mr. French & Mrs. Herbert Porter reported following Herman Graf(?) 1 year Murray Butler(?), Roscoe White 1 year to fill the vacancies made by Mrs. J. J. Parker and J. H. Foster Deseased[sic] and Dr. Richmond resigned. Mr. Graf(?), White and Bortley were unanimously elected. On motion Mr. De Forest Pratt was elected Clerk of the church for the ensuing year. On motion Miss Emma Hart was elected Treasurer for the ensuing year. On motion a vote of thanks be given Mr. W. L. Hart for assisting Mr. Hanes[I still haven’t figured out if this guy’s name is Hover, Hones, Hanes…] as treasurer. Dayton on the condition and activities of our church for the past 5 ½ months. There are 342 members. There have been 24 morning services, average attendance 155 + 12 evening services attendance 90; 12 Union eve services, attendance 162; 20 Sunday School sessions attendance 102; 13 Young peoples meetings attendance 14; 3 baptisms, 3 weddings, 9 funerals, 185 pastoral calls. The Annual Meeting of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Pomfret, was held in the church parlors Dec 4 1929 at 7:30PM. The meeting was called to order by De Forest Pratt and W. L. Hart was chosen chairman. The meeting was opened by prayer by our pastor Rev. Chas. H. Dayton. The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. On motion De Forest Pratt was elected clerk to succeed himself. Mr. W. L. Hart, A. F. French were nominated for trustees for a term of 3 years and R. H. Watson for a term of 2 years. Mr. W. L. Hart asked to be released of the work as he had been a trustee for 35 years and would like a rest but it was held that he was a valuable man on the board and upon ballot was unanimously elected, also Mr. A. F. French and Mr. R. H. Watson were unanimously elected. Report of the Treasurer Miss Emma Hart was given and explained by W. L. Hart. Report of Treasurer ordered placed in the minutes. Rev. Mr. Dayton announced that Mr. Henry T.(?) Fuller had given $1000 and that it cleared(?) up the improvement fund debt. A rising vote of thanks was given Mr. Fuller and the clerk was instructed to write Mr. Fuller thanking him for his generous gift. Report of R. C. White on the improvement fund. Mr. White reported that the money had all been raised. On motion the Building Committee was discharged with a vote of thanks. A raising vote of thanks was also given Mrs. H. M. Sweatland for her generous gift to the building fund. We next proceeded to burn(?) the note and as it burned we stood in[sic] sang the Doxalogy[sic]. Report of the Canvas Com. was read by the Clerk. Report of the Endowment fund was read by W. L. Hart. On motion Miss Emma Hart was elected Treasurer to succeed herself. French and James Stone be made honorary Trustees and that no other trustee be elected at this time thus reducing the number of active trustees to six. The report of the Treasurer Miss Emma Hart was read and approved, placed on file. On motion Miss Emma Hart was elected Treas. for the ensuing year. On motion Mrs. Harry Schwartz was elected Treasurer for the ensuing year. On motion Mr. Chas. Spittle was elected Trustee for 2 years. A vote of appreciation was given Miss Emma Hart for the faithful and efficient services as treasurer of our church and that they owe a great debt of gratitude for such services and this letter(?) be spread(?) on the minutes. On motion Mrs. Wm. Judson, Miss Lotte Dean and Miss Vivian Robe were elected Music Com. for the ensuing year. The following were chosen ushers Harry Schwartz, Herman Graf, Mr. Austin, John Cane. Treasurer’s report received and ordered filed. Cash on hand $885.12. Report of canvas committee was $2118.00 to date. On motion the budget of $3950.00 as suggested by the trustees be adopted. Reports of the Sigma Beta by Mrs. Glen Kent, and Westminster club by the pastor for Mrs. Bowen were received both fine reports. Mr. Wood gave a report of the Sunday school and spoke very highly of the work of our Supt. Mrs. Robert Tallman. He also reports a new interest in the church and expects a banner year. He also announced a prayer meeting to be held at Mrs. Wm. Judsons Thur. eve at 7.30 Dec. 16. On motion it was voted the Clerk send letters of appreciation to Mr. A. F. French and Mr. Murry Bartley for their long and efficient services as Trustees. Mr. French had served since 1899. On motion the proceeds of the little church bank be used for repairs on manse. Adj.

Minutes of the last regular meeting read and approved. A report of the activities of the Trustees was given by Mr. Manley Session. Report of the Treasurer Mrs. Harry Schwartz was received and ordered filed. Report of Westminster Club by Mrs. John Rathbun. Report of visitation com. by Dr. Murdock(?) Dawley(?). Pledges to date $4238.90. *The following Trustees were elected for three years Herman Graf, Arthur Porter, Earl Bowen, and for two years Harry Solhof, Harry Schwartz, Roscoe White. *On motion the Board of trustees be increased from 6 members to 9 members and that the ones re elected serve for three years and the new ones for two years. On motion Mrs. Harry Schwartz was elected Treasurer for the ensuing year. On motion a Youths Budget be created and a Treasurer be elected. On motion Miss Arline Douglas was elected Treasurer of the Youths Budget for the ensuing year. On motion DeForest Pratt was re-elected clerk. Report of Flower com. by Mrs. Wm. Barth.
