This album consists of "cartes de visite," a calling-card style of photograph. It was presented by the congregation as a farewell gift to Reverend Howard M. Jones, pastor of the Fredonia Baptist Church from 1862 to 1868. In 1932, the album was returned to the church by Harry W. Jones, a Minneapolis architect and son of the former pastor. (See photo in Set 4.) Also in 1932, church clerk Edith Morse and senior members of the congregation identified each photo. Some were reprinted by Reverend C. Allen Russell in his History of the Fredonia Baptist Church (McClenathan Printery, 1955).
