PORK ROAD CEMETERY

STOWELL'S CORNERS CEMETERY

CLYMER, NY
Located beside Pork Road in the northwest part of Clymer, this cemetery was abandoned long ago. There are still a few very old stones still there, mostly fallen and broken. In 1976, Marguerite Neckers VanderSchaff, Town Historian of Clymer at the time, reported the following inscriptions:

Thelma Heil sent this additional note;
"The late Velma Simmelink, who grew up on Pork Road, wrote about her recollections of
the families who lived on that road. (Her Dutch immigrant grandparents
settled there in 1849.) She wrote this, "A fellow by the name of Tamerlane
Stowell skinned a calf that had died of rabies and Tamerlane got the rabies
from it. His family had to lock him in the corncrib because he went crazy
and tore everything up."
