The Northeastern Nevada Genealogical Society was incorporated
5 September, 1978 under the laws of the State of Nevada,
including six counties-Elko, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander,
Pershing, and White Pine, an area covering
nearly one-half of Nevada.
This broad organization was formed because of the large wealth
of genealogical records available and the inter-relationship
between the counties-i.e., historic routes, mining, livestock
grazing, and related occupations, movement of people,
and changes in county boundaries leaving records in
another county.
The Northeastern Nevada Genealogical Society publishes the
periodical, CHART and QUILL. Each issue contains valuable
genealogical information. However, in May of this year the
society voted to relinquish its individual status and become a
part of The Historical Society. Back issues of the Chart and
Quill are available through the Northeastern Nevada Museum.
