Ink for Blood
The Story of the David Fairchild Family
The ink still flows through the veins of the family, the interest in writing and publishing is going strong seven generations later!
Latest Fairchild Update - March 2012
| This is the story of the David Fairchild family. It really begins
with his early learning of the printing trade and follows him and his
family as they started newspapers across central New York and then to
California and Nevada. Of David Fairchild's seven sons, six of them
were actively engaged in printing for a portion of their adult lives.
In fact, one of his son's died in the press room.
There is a surprising amount of information on the happenings of the family, much of it due to the ink running through their veins. Not only did they establish newspapers, they wrote editorials that often included personal tragedies and truimphs. There was the typical male centeredness to the reporting, but they often broke the mold and mentioned their spouses. The links below will take you to the appropriately titled page. The basic format is a site listing shown below. The Descendants page provides links to pictures and information on specific individuals. |
