census 1901: last entry, difficult to decypher, looks like he was single, living in a 4 room house, probably the customs house.

[It is said that he was mentally ill and lived alone in extreme poverty.  Stories are related that he sat alone in the winter wrapped in a blanket with a lantern between his legs to keep warm - JD]
