          Township Book of Aylesford: (undated)
"Issue Robert Blue and Mary Dalton, alias Blue:" see below
          census 1838: total in family = 10
census 1851: messy entry, doesn't make sense, no age for male, 2 people married, 2 females aged over 50
          census 1861: name only
          census 1871: born in Ireland
[From his position in the 1871 census he was probably living on the Australia Road.  It is said that his son Archibald named the Australia Road but I think he was born there and his father Robert Ballou gave the road it's name.  He had plans of immigrating to Australia, so goes the story, and thus the name of the road.  If you consider that he was capable of immigrating from Ireland to the wilderness of Canada then it doesn't seem too unlikely that he would have moved to Australia given an opportunity.  From the population and the number of schools in 1871 it is my opinion that the community had been building for years and that the lumber trade had been in operation since the early 1800s shipping their product out of Morden.  This is not the way that post railroad, valley centric histories see it but I think that in the days of sailing ships it was the valley which was remote and isolated - JD]
