[As with the census for 1871 and 1881 there are a series of fields at the beginning which I did not capture.  They deal with "vessels and shanties", "Houses in construction" and "Houses uninhabited".  The next field is "Houses inhabited" which I captured in 1871 and 1881 but in 1891 it's so weird that I didn't attempt to capture it.  It's a compound fraction usually preceeded by "W", 1 1/2 with a numerator like "13".  It probably has some meaning but I couldn't figure it out so I ignored it.

I tried to copy the census exactly as it was captured in 1891, including the errors.  Therefore there are a lot of obvious errors which for the most part are not mine (although there are a few of these too).  I broke the pages as they were in the census ledger.  Where I was really in doubt as to the name or religion I copied an image of the actual census text into the list.  The titles are, alas, only an approximation of the original, there was simply no way to easily put the original in a presentable form, some titles ran to 5 lines.  Thus "Country or Province of Birth" became POB.  In 1891 there were 3 POBs, one for the individual and one for each of his parents.

"Relation to Head of Family" is under Rel.  You are left to guess what the letters stand for.

Some of the text has a stroke through it, this is the way it appeared in the actual census.  For some reason either the enumerator or someone later scratched out the entries.

The enumeration date has a subtle importance.  The enumerator could only travel so far in one day with a horse and buggy so if you can get a fix on any one location you can tell approximately where the others enumerated on the same day were living.  In the cases which I can check with some certainty, having known the families involved, the enumerators mostly went door to door which, in the case of farms, could be some distance.

Where I  felt  it  necessary  to  annotate  the text  I  enclosed  my note in brackets [ ], used a blue font (on my browser anyway) and  put  my  initials [ - JD].  All other notes and comments are taken from the census, put there by the enumerator or someone later.
