![]() | ![]() RAINFORTH, Orland A. - The death of Orland Alexander Rainforth, elder son of Miles and the late Margaret McKenzie Rainforth of Windermere, occurred very unexpectedly at his home at Windermere, Saturday evening, May 8th, at the age of sixty-three years. Mr. Rainforth had been in his usual health until the Thursday preceding his death when he suffered a severe heart attack, which was followed by another and a more severe one on Friday. On Saturday he was around the house and at supper time, not feeling like eating, he left the table and went to the kitchen where his death occurred as he sat in his chair. He is survived by his aged father who has just passed his ninety-eighth birthday and who was able to attend his son's funeral; by his wife, formerly Miss Winnifred Barteaux, of Morristown; by two sons - Lorimer, of Morristown, and Whitney at home, and by four grandchildren. One brother, Frank, of Windermere, and four sisters also survive: Mrs. Aubrey Dodge, Mrs. Robert Palmer, Mrs. George Hutchinson, of Berwick, and Mrs. George Fancy, of Morristown. Mr. Rainforth was very highly respected and favorably known in this community where he had spent his entire lifetime. Of a very kindly nature, he was ever ready to help those in need and his passing will be sincerely mourned by the entire community, while to his family to whom he was always a very kind and loving husband and father, son and brother, his death is a grievous shock. He was a highly successful orchardist and farmer, a member of the Berwick Fruit Company and had served on the Board of Directors of that company. A member of the Baptist Church he consistently lived a life of usefulness and kindness toward others. Funeral services which were conducted by Rev. Milton Munn, pastor of the Aylesford and Morristown Baptist Church, were held from his late residence Monday afternoon, May 10th, and were largely attended. Mr. Munn paid a high tribute to the sterling qualities of the deceased, with a sympathetic message of comfort for the family so suddenly bereaved. Mrs. Vance Hogan sang two solos: "The City Four Square" and "Sometime We'll Understand", and the choir of the Morristown Baptist Church led in the singing of a hymn "Shall we Gather at the River". Interment was at Morristown Cemetery, the pall-bearers being Messers. George West, George Roland, Carl Felch and Church Morse.
