NEARY, Janet Marie - 60, 32 Academy St., Kentville, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2005, at home. Born in Fort Rucker, Ala., she was a daughter of the late Dr. William H. and Loretta M. (Rinehart) Longley. She was a loving wife and mother and will be forever missed. Janet graduated from Acadia University in 1967 and completed a Dietary Internship at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She received a Bachelor of Education from Acadia University and taught school in Kings County for 30 years. She taught at Kings County Academy, Evangeline Middle School, and the former Horton High School. She was an active member of the Valley Voices, formerly the Queens of Kings for 25 years. Janet was a member of the United Church of St. Paul and St. Stephen, Kentville. She is survived by her husband, Robert; sons, Mark A. (Tanya Parker), Halifax, and Scott D. (Rhonda Storms), Calgary, Alta.; brothers, David Longley (Sharon Elliott), Margaretsville, Annapolis Co.; Warren Longley (Pamela Cox), Utah; stepmother, Sophia K. Longley, Lakewood, N.J. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Friday, August 5, in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 6, in the United Church of St. Paul and St. Stephen, Kentville, Rev. Dr. Randy Crozsman officiating. Burial will take place in Starr's Point Cemetery, Kings County. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.From August 4th, 2005 issue of Chronicle Herald in Halifax.

NEILEY, Mrs. Clayton Kingston, Feb. 20. - With expressions of deep regret people of this community learned of the death of Mrs. Clayton Neiley, at Chelsea Memorial Hospital, Chelsea, Mass., late Thursday evening, February 14. Having been in ill health for two years, Mrs. Neiley had gone to Massachusetts on January 15 to visit her husband's cousin, George Neiley, and to receive further medical treatment. Deceased was the former Margaret Lavinia Harris, daughter of the late Reuben and Eliza Harris, and was born in East Margaretsville, 53 years ago. She was married to Clayton A. Neiley, North Kingston, in 1911, and her entire subsequent life was spent in this community. Regarded by all who knew her as the possessor of many sterling qualities, she was well known for a cheerful disposition, and a remark commonly expressed by her family and friends was that she was always the same. Her greatest pleasure in life seemed to be doing for others. She was a member of the North Kingston Baptist Church. She leaves, besides her husband, one daughter, Mrs. W. Watson Pierce (Ruth); sons - Carmen, of Kentville, who recently received his honorable discharge after serving with the Royal Canadian Army during the war; Emerson, at home, who also has just recently returned from serving with the Canadian Army overseas; sisters - Mrs. Mabel Pierce, Kingston; Mrs. Florence Hooper, New York; brothers - Lamont Harris, East Margaretsville; Arnold Harris, Hantsport; grandchildren - Gordon, Norma and Romona Pierce and Carol Neiley; also Millie and Warren Kennedy, for whom Mrs. Neiley had made a home since their early childhood. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, in the United Baptist Church, Kingston, following the arrival of the remains on the afternoon train. Mrs. Neiley's pastor, Rev. L. E. Davis, conducted the service, and a united choir rendered favourite hymns - "Abide With Me", "Will There Be Any Stars?" and "Softly and Tenderly". There were many floral tributes. Pallbearers were Edward Pierce, Everett Saunders, John Longley, Ralph Armstrong, Wofford Foster, George Foster. Interment was in the family lot at North Kingston Cemetery. Published 21 February 1946

NOWLAN, Charles E. Black River - Funeral service for Charles Emery Nowlan, 92, of Black River,Kings County, will be held today at 2:30 p.m. in Black River Baptist Church. He died Friday in Miller Hospital, Kentville. Among the survivors are a daughter, Jean (Mrs. Charles Coldwell), Avonport; and two sons, Arden and Morley, both of Wolfville. Black River Cemetery, Kings Co, Nova Scotia, Lot 91: NOWLAN Emory C. Nowlan, 1889-1982. His wife Vera Z (Reid) Nowlan, 1895-1981. Halifax Herald, published May 18, 1982
