CARR, Evelyn Matilda - 85, formerly of Wilmot, Kings Co., passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2005, in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Bennett's Bay, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Andrew Atkinson Bennett and Amy Harris (English) Bennett. As a young lady, she had been employed in the Canning area as a housekeeper. Following her marriage to husband, Gary Carr, they relocated and settled in Calgary. Upon retirement they returned to Kings County, Nova Scotia, where Evelyn acted as a nanny and cared for many children throughout the area. She enjoyed spending time with family and was always interested in hearing about up-to-date family events. She also enjoyed music, watching television and was a lover of cats. She is survived by sisters, Mrs. Ruby (Douglas) Woodworth, Kentville, and Mrs. Mary Allen, New Hampshire, U.S.A.; many nieces and nephews throughout Canada and the United States. She was predeceased by her husband, Gary; sister, Gladys Taylor; brothers, Wesley and Charles, and an infant brother, Andrew. CARTER, W. W. AYLESFORD - William Wallace Carter of Westford, husband of Vera (Charlton) Carter, died at Lowell General Hospital. He was born at Canso in 1898, son of Daniel Carter. He attended school in Truro. He went to Massachusetts as a young man, and had been a resident of Westford for nearly 30 years. He had recently retired from the Johns-Manville Products Co. of North Billerica, where he had been employed a number of years. Interment was at Aylesford. COLDWELL, Hazel Irene - 90, Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, formerly of Wolfville, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2005, with the courage and dignity she had displayed in all aspects of her life. Born in Blue Mountain, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Dennis and Mary (Joudrey) Legge. In addition to being a homemaker, she was an accomplished seamstress, quilter and knitter, and had also worked at the Acadia University Library and Student Union Building, and T.E. Eaton's Catalogue Outlet in Wolfville. She enjoyed playing cards and attending card parties, and had a wide circle of close friends. Hazel was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, Wolfville, where she was active with the A.C.W., and was a member of the Silver and Gold Seniors Club, Wolfville. She is survived by daughters, Barbara (Dave) Packer, Parry Sound, Ont., and Dorothy (Gary) Henderson, East Dalhousie; son, Robert "Bob" (Elayne), Mississauga, Ont.; sisters, Gladys Rafuse, New Ross, and Alice Lyttle, Nanaimo, B.C.; grandchildren, Douglas (Ruby) Coldwell, Mississauga, Ont.; John (Sarah) Coldwell, Mississauga, Ont.; Sharon Coldwell, Toronto, Ont.; Jason Packer, Vancouver, B.C.; Capt. Nathan Packer, Petawawa, Ont.; Andrea (Gerald) Aalders, Black Rock; Chris (J.J.) Walsh, White Rock; Adam Henderson, Flesherton, Ont.; Jason Henderson, Hantsport; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Jason "Jake"; sister, Beatrice "Bea" White; brothers, Cornelius, Clifford and Eber; and son-in-law, Stuart Walsh. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by family request. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, in St. John's Anglican Church, Wolfville, Rev. Bruce Matthews officiating. Burial will take place in Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of choice. COOK, Rev. Clarence W. - CANNING, retired Baptist minister, died at his home in Canning on Thursday. He was 73. A native of Guysborough County, Mr. Cook graduated from Acadia University with the degree of Bachelor of Arts in 1916. He served overseas during World War I, first in the Canadian Army, and later as a lieutenant in the Royal Air Force. Following the was, Mr. Cook served for 3 years as pastor of the United Baptist Church in Parrsboro. He resigned in 1922 to continue his theological studies at Newton Theological Seminary in Mass., from which he received the degree of Bachelor of Divinity in 1924. For the next 36 years he served the Baptist churches at Milton, Canning, Kingston, Berwick, and Chester Basin; Summerside, and Quebec City. He retired in 1960 and purchased a home in Canning. He was a member of the Markland Masonic Lodge, Kingston; a past grand master and past district general Chaplain. A member of the Canadian Legion, he was made chaplain of the Canning branch. He was also honorary pastor of the Canning Baptist Church. Mr. Cook is survived by his widow, the former Gladys Eaton of Granville Centre. His only son, Murray, predeceased him in 1949. Also surviving are a sister Mrs. Parker Sangster, and a half-brother, Albert Cook, both of Guysborough. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at Canning Baptist Church by Lic. Vincent Rushton, assisted by Padre H. C. Grimmer, Camp Hill Chaplain. Interment was in Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville. Halifax Herald published his obit on Saturday, 13 July 1961

COOK (EATON), Gladys - 80, widow of the late Rev. Clarence Cook, of Canning died Saturday at the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville. Born in Granville Centre, she was the daughter of the late Burton and Henrietta (Troop) Eaton. She is survived by four sisters, Estella Eaton, Nan Eaton, and Vera (Mrs.Ronald Longley), all of Canning; Leta (Mrs. Robie McNince), Stoney Creek,Ont.; one grandchild. She was predeceased by one son, Murray, three brothers, Arnold, Judson, and Burton, and one sister Ethel. The body is at the W. C. Hiltz Funeral Home, Kentville. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Baptist Church, Canning, with Rev. Ronald McCormick officiating. Burial will be in Willowbank cemetery, Wolfville. COOK, William Hall - 88, Wilmot Station, was buried following funeral service at the Warren T. Roop Funeral Home, Middleton. Born at Margaretsville, he was the son of the late James and Sarah (Cleveland) Cook. Surviving, besides his wife, the former Eva Belle Reynolds, of Lynn, Mass., are a son, William Gilbert, Middleton; a brother, Clarence, Mahone Bay; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret L. Margeson, Newton Centre, Mass.; Mrs. Sophronia Bowlby, Larchemont, N. Y.; and three grandchildren. A son, a daughter, and a brother are dead. CORBETT, Pauline Margaret Rose - 68, South Alton, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2005, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, she was the daughter of Gladys Ward and the late Ralph James Ward. Pauline enjoyed gardening, knitting, crafts and sharing recipes with her daughter, Leona. She had a great love of animals especially her little dog, Chico. Pauline is survived by her husband, Ron; daughters, Leona Walker (Michael), New Brunswick; Silvia, Centreville; sons, Leon, Aldersville; Stephen, Bible Hill; sisters, Doris Gates, Berwick; Shirley Sweet, Sackville; Joyce Hitchcock, Oromocto, N.B.; brother, Robert, Kentville. Pauline will be sadly missed by her friends and family. Interment in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. In August 1, 2005 issue of Chronicle Herald in Halifax

COULSTAN, Mrs. I. T. KINGSTON � Mrs. I. T. Coulstan, widow of I. T. Coulstan, passed away at her home in Margaretsville on July 14. Born Jan. 11, 1861, at East Margaretsville, she was the daughter of Alexander and Margaret Ann Marshall. She attended the Lawrencetown Ladies Seminar and for several years taught school in the New England States and Canada. She was predeceased by her brothers, W. M. Marshall, Kingston; A. L. Marshall, Newport, R. I.; I. D. Marshall, Boston, Mass.; and A. S. Marshall, Kingston, N. S. Also one daughter, Mrs. William Lamb, Cambridge, Mass. CRAWFORD, Madge Elizabeth - 84, Dartmouth, passed away at Dartmouth General Hospital on Tuesday, August 2, 2005. She was born in Lower Wolfville, a daughter of the late Harold and Ethel (Kelly) Crawford. She retired from the Nova Scotia Research Foundation in 1985. Madge is survived by sister, Shirley Eddy, Martock; her children, Jean Bartholomew, Barbara, Bruce, Dartmouth; Joan Armitage, Lower Sackville; Sheila, Lake Echo; Dale Steele, Mineville; William (Bill), Alan, Edmonton, Alta.; the children of her late brother Paul, Joan Doyle, Toronto; John, Greenwich; Peggy, Joseph, Lower Wolfville, and cousin, Nell Coldwell, Gaspereau. She was predeceased by her long-time companion, William (Bill) Geddes; niece, Susan (Crawford) Kelly; sister, Jean. Visitation will take place in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., today from 7-9 p.m. Graveside service will take place in Gaspereau Cemetery, Gaspereau, on Friday, August 5, at 2 p.m. followed by a reception in Gaspereau Hall.
