CARROLL, Charlie Mervyn - 61, Enfield,
died May 24, 1997, at home after a courageous battle with
cancer. Born in Lantz, he was a son of Victor Carroll and the
late Clara (McCulloch) Carroll. He worked for the City of
Dartmouth for 30 1/2 years; as a grader operator for 20 years,
and as a foreman for the remaining 10 1/2 years. He was a member
of St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of
Columbus. He was a wonderful husband, father and "papa". He is
survived by his wife, the former Patricia (Patsy) MacDonnell;
daughters, Cindy, Calgary, Alta.; Donna Gilby, Enfield; sons,
David and wife Janet, White Rock, B.C.; Robert (Bob) and wife
Alison, Elmsdale. He is also survived by grandchildren, Helen,
whom he raised from infancy; Stuart and Morgan Carroll, Melissa
and Heidi Gilby, Jessica and Alexandra Carroll; sisters, Mona
(Mrs. Ivan Hennigar), Lantz; Heather, Toronto, Ont.; brother,
George, Brockway, N.B.; many nieces and nephews.
Charlie
was respected and loved by all who knew him. Visitation will be
2-4, 7-9 p.m today, May 26, in St. Bernard's Roman Catholic
Church, Enfield, from where funeral services will be held 10
a.m. Tuesday, May 27, Rev. Paul Granville, S.J., officiating.
Burial in the church cemetery. Donations may be made to the
Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Ettinger
Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.
