1. Catalog of Marriage Licence Bonds 1821-1862. Typescript, covering all Nova Scotia, in chronological order. Not indexed by name or place. Gives name, trade, hometown and marital status of groom and bride-to-be, and often the clergyman and church to whom the licence is referred, and sometimes the names of others who signed the bond.
2. Marriage Licence Bonds 1862-64.
3. Marriage Licence Bonds 1870-71. (1865-69 is omitted).
4. Catalog of Manuscript Documents 1748-1841. Official letters, petitions, memoranda of the N.S government and citizens covering any subject. Copies of handwritten originals. If you know what to look for and when, it might be of help.
5. Misc. Ships' Passenger Lists, particularly those of the Dove and Sarah from Scotland to Pictou in 1801. The Dove was mistakenly called the Pigeon by Pictou historian Patterson. (Same kind of bird, but wrong word). There are also some narratives about conditions on the ship and the kind of settlers they carried.
6. "Foreign Protestants who Sailed from Continental Europe". Passenger lists for the Ann, 1750;Speedwell, 1751; Gale 1751; Murdoch, 1751; Pearl 1751; Betty, 1752; Sally, 1752. These are copies of original handwritten lists made up in Rotterdam, mostly duplicated by different writers, some apparently by John Dick, the British agent, himself. There are some lists of those who arrived in Halifax (as opposed to those who departed Rotterdam; up to ten percent died on some of the voyages). Also, lists of the immigrants who were victualled in Halifax in the early 1750's.
The film was made from documents in PANS, for example, Item 6 is PANS MG 4 Vol. 3. I
