#229 Main Street c.1819

George Terry built this house on a circular cellar which may have been Acadian.

The building is a designated historical site and is an example of the Horton - Yankee style of architecture which evolved from roots in England and Connecticut. This also reflected the individuality of the owner.

George Terry house N45°04.530' W064°29.307' might have been built over an Acadian cellar.
In Acadian time, there was a brook beside this site. However later the Mill brook was diverted to activate a Mill.
Instead of crossing today's Canaan Ave and running beside the Terry's house the brook now run between Willow lane and Brook ave.
