1. Francis Henry4
Glawson (Francis3,
Francis Cornelius2, Heinrich1 Klaasen)
was born November 02, 1823 in Halifax, Halifax, Nova
Scotia, and died November 17, 1898 in Port Dufferin, Halifax,
Nova Scotia. He married (1) Susan Murphy 1858 in Salmon
River, Halifax, Nova Scotia, daughter of Martin Murphy and
Bridget Quillinan. She was born 1836 in Sheet Harbour, Nova
Scotia, and died December 09, 1871 in Port Dufferin, Nova
Scotia. He married (2) Elizabeth Ann Stockman November
30, 1873 in St. Peter's Church, Pleasant Harbour, Nova Scotia,
daughter of William Stockman and Eleanor Grady. She was born
November 29, 1852 in Petty Harbour, Newfoundland, and died
November 29, 1908 in Port Dufferin, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Notes from Loretta Glawson
Fry:
Francis Glawson was the son
of Francis and Mary Ann (nee Walsh) Glawson and grandson of
Francis and Elizabeth (nee West) Glawson of Pope's Harbour.
Although Francis Glawson was not living at Port Dufferin in
1851 (since he is not listed in the Census of 1851), he was living
here by 1859. Henry Francis gave Salmon River as the
Glawson's place of residence. Francis Glawson married Susan Murphy,
the daughter of Martin and Bridget Murphy of Sheet Harbour. Susan
Glawson died at Port Dufferin on 9 December 1871 at the age of
thirty-five years. Following his wife's death, on 30
Nov, 1872. Francis Glawson married Elizabeth Stockman, the
daughter of William and Eleanor Stockman, of Petit Harbour,
Newfoundland. She died on 29 Nov. 1908, aged fifty-six years.
In various records, Francis
Glawson's occupation is stated as: master mariner, ship master and
trader (he was engaged in trade with West Indies). His Will stated
that he had a dwelling house, barn, coach house, outbuildings,
horses, cattle, sheep, hogs, fowl, farming utensils, truck, and
riding wagon, harness, sleds and sleighs.
In the 1881 census he is
listed as a Ship's Captain living in Dartmouth. His will
dated Oct 1893 left his homestead to his widow for her life, and
then to his son Peter.

18 ix. Peter Francis Glawson, born February 01,
1888 in
Quoddy, Nova Scotia; died October 22, 1888.
Notes for Peter Francis
Glawson:
Peter F. Glawson is noted buried by Francis and Elizabeth (2nd
wife) Susan and Annie, HOWEVER, dates on tombstone are
1888-1971, NOT 1868-1888. Only other possibility is that another
baby was born in 1888 named the same, living until 1971. Another
Peter Francis is recorded born in 1888, but on the exact same
day, which seems a little unlikely. My best guess at this time
is that the only Peter Francis was born in 1888 and lived until
1971. Any other entries are errors on the same individual.

Glawson:
Baptism: September 26, 1869, St. Peter's, Halifax, Nova Scotia
Notes for Bertha Murphy?:
A Bertha Murphy had an
illegitimate child, Joseph--however, this may NOT
be this particular Bertha Murphy...my original reference is Bertha
M. so I am only speculating that she WAS a Murphy, and the one who
had this child as well. It is possible
that the father was a Keating, since he was sponsored by Keatings,
and that
they were to wed as the baptismal is conditional, usually upon
marriage of the parties.

Duffern, Halifax, Nova Scotia, and died December 13, 1947 in North
River, Nova Scotia. She married Andrew Brenton February 20,
1914 in St. Patrick's Church, Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was born
January 28, 1863 in Middle Stewiacke, Nova Scotia, and died May 25,
1929 in Halifax, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Notes for Susan Agnes Glawson:
Susan A. Brenton Glawson
noted buried with Francis and Elizabeth (Stockton) Glawson (Francis'
2nd wife), her father and Annie S. and Peter F., her siblings.
However, tombstone dates are 1878 to 1947, not 1878 to 1914. Based
on these interrments, I am presuming Susan A. Brenton to be Susan
Agnes Glawson having married a Brenton. Tombstone weathering could
possibly misconstrue 1947 to be 1914. --Maggie McCracken from
on-line cemetery survey, 2001.
