Greetings. I am seeking information on the parents and ancestry of Elisha and Mary TITUS of Digby County, NS. I don't yet know the precise dates of their birth or marriage, but their daughter Elmira was (according to her marriage record) born about 1861, and married Edward Leonard THURBER on July 29th, 1879. It seems probable that Elisha and Mary were born sometime between the 1820s and about 1843 (given Elmira's birth in 1861), and I suspect Elisha could well be a great-grandson of Captain Isaac TITUS and Jemima MEAD - the New Yorkers who immigrated in the early 1780s. I'm hoping to learn the names of the parents and grandparents of Elisha Titus, as well as the maiden name of his wife Mary. If anyone has access to the book "Captain Isaac TITUS of Trout Cove, Nova Scotia: A history and genealogy of the TITUS family of Nova Scotia, 1747- 1997" by Jerry TITUS it seems possible that it might be helpful. Thank you for any information you might be able to provide.

I am extremely keen to find the parents, ancestors and siblings of John WELCH. I have no record of his middle name. John WELCH (b 8 JUN 1849 in NS) moved to NB in 1873. He probably first moved to St. Martin's NB - then resettled in Saint John. He married Mary Jane VAUGHAN of St. Martin's in 1873. He was a ship's carpenter. He died in Saint John, NB 26 APR 1923. Interesting fact about John: he went instantly blind at the age of 48. There are so many Welches in the Westport / Digby region and there's a ferry between Digby and Saint John. This region is my logical choice to find John WELCH'S parents and ancestry.

Looking for a John PHILLIPS who was a Micmac Indian & basketmaker. Married a Magdalen or Madeline TONEY of Bear River. He was 27 in the 1881 Census and Madeline was 33. They had 8 - 9 children. Then John disappears from my radar. Maybe moved to Halifax or back to Pictou Landing or New Glasgow. He was a son of Michael PHILLIPS & Salley HADLEY of New Glasgow. Madeline moved in with a Paul family of Lequille, and became Madeline Paul? Would like death certificates on both John & Madeline if possible, don't know here to start or when they died, but one or both could have contracted Spanish influenza. Any help? Oh, St. Gertrude's RC Church in Anapolis Royal helped me with a Baptismal of my Grandfather Andrew Melbourne PHILLIPS / Micmac born Oct 28, 1887, son of John & Madeline.

My birth date was 2/22/57, in Digby, Nova Scotia. My adoption was arranged though the Catholic church, my mother was 34 years old at the time of my birth. There is the possibility that she was was working as a waitress at the time of my birth, My birth father (at least the man listed as such) was a laborer who was born in Ashmore, N.S. and lived in Barton in Digby County, N.S. My adoptive parents were George and Marie TOBIN from Timmins, Ontario and I was adopted when I was a year and a half old. There is also the possibility tht my mother's name was actually Marion DOUCET (nee THIBAULT), daughter of Reid THIBAULT. Thanks.
