BLACKFORD posted by Michael Blackford on Saturday, May 10, 2003

My name is Michael Edward BLACKFORD (nick named Woody). I am from Nova Scotia and I am a direct descendent of Martin Anthony BLACKFORD. Martin arrive in Digby 1784, he re-married to a women name Elizabeth TIDD in Sandy Cove Nova Scotia after he arrived from New Jersey (I have some writings from his journey). He did have a son named Anthony who is barried at Pleasant Hill Cemetary in Tiverton, Long Island, Nova Scotia. The BLACKFORD'S remained on the Island for six generations until my father Brad BLACKFORD left in the 1960's. Listed here is a website that shows all the BLACKFORD'S that have been buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery who all descend from Anthony. https://sites.rootsweb.com/~nsdigby/cemeterys/tivplhi1.htm Curiously Martins' grave has never been found. The line of BLACKFORD men that lead to my family goes like this; Martin Anthony BLACKFORD, b. 17??(Can't remember off the top of my head) Anthony BLACKFORD, b.1785 Isreal BLACKFORD, b.1815 Henry BLACKFORD, b. 1850 Edward BLACKFORD, b. 1876 Bradford Lloyd BLACKFORD (went by Llyod), b. 1899 Bradford Lloyd BLACKFORD Jr. (goes by Brad), b. 1939 then myself, Michael BLACKFORD b. 1969 (So far we have one daughter named Abby, she is 28 mos b. dec 14 2000) I have the entire BLACKFORD tree as it pertains to Long Island. I am the last male from this particular Canadian line that still carries the name BLACKFORD, as far as I can tell (some of the records get foggy in the 1900's). I have three older sisters Stephanie, Mary Jean and Belinda , my father Brad had five sisters and he is also the youngest! Bradford married Vera BLACKFORD (THURBER) my mother in 1958. Feel free to email anytime [email protected]
