MOORE, Robert Gordon - 78, died March 4 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Freeport, he was the son of the late Edwin and Hattie MOORE. He was a former employee of Davis Fish Firm, Connors Bros., in Freeport, D B Kenny Ltd. in Westport, and even tried his hand at fishing. To his family and friends, Robert was known as 'Popeye'. He is survived by his second wife, Dorothy, of Plympton; three daughters, Louise (Walter) RYAN, Freeport; Marie (Leo) DEVEAU, Salmon River; Joyce (Gordon) BURNS, Metegan; two sons, Wayne (Holly) MOORE, Donald (Deanna) MOORE,both of Digby, two brothers, Ivan (Janet) MOORE, Arthur (Helen)MOORE, both of Freeport; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two nieces and eight nephews; seven step-daughters and eight stepsons. He was predeceased by his first wife, Alice; two grandsons, Robert and Troy Ryan, a sister, Nellie; a brother Ervin; three nephews, Harry, Melbourne and Gerald TITUS. Cremation has taken place. Donations may be made to the Freeport Baptist Church, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, QEII Health Sciences Center or a charity of choice.

Born August 25, 1934 in Hectanooga, Digby Co., he was a son of the late George Alexander and Catherine Marie (SAULNIER) DEVEAU. He was a retired clerk with Canada Post. He was a member of Notre Dame parish, Yarmouth, and he loved camping with his wife as well as gardening. Surviving are his wife, Annette M. (MUISE) DEVEAU; children, Charles, Yarmouth; Kenneth (Debbie), Salmon River; Donna (Patrick) LEBLANC, Yarmouth; a brother, John (Vange) DEVEAU, Kingston, NS; Cecile (Billy) MUISE, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Amy, April, Jeremy, Jennifer, Alex, Alyson, Samantha; great-grandchildren, Josh, Robbie, Aislyn. GOGUEN, J. Phillip (WO ret'd) - 68, Smith's Cove, Digby Co., passed away May 20, 2004, at home. Born in Saint John, N.B., he was a son of the late John and Gladys (WINCHESTER) GOGUEN. Phillip was a serviceman for 45 years, having served with the RCAF for three years, and then served with the Canadian Guards, employed as an instructor training new infantry personnel. He was then posted to CFB Cornwallis where he was an instructor of new recruits. After retiring in 1986, he was employed with HMCS Acadia as an instructor of Naval Cadets. He was a member of the Canadian Guards Association and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Digby and Bear River. Phillip had three loves: his family, his garden, hunting and fishing. Phillip and his close friends from the services established a hunting camp in Lake Rossingnol area which continued on for 31 years. He was an avid sportsman excelling in baseball and hockey. He is survived by his wife, Muriel (OICKLE); daughters, Gail (Robert) DRISCOLL, Halifax; Kathy (Billy) ROSS, Smith's Cove; sons, Barry (Colleen), Halifax; Michael (Cindy), Cambridge, Kings Co.; sister, Valerie BELDING, Saint John, N.B.; grandchildren, Shawna, Nichole, Rachael, Paul, Stephen, and Shaylyn; great-granddaughter, Emma. She shucked clams for many years and made many wonderful friends. Elfreda also had many hobbies which included sewing, knitting and playing both card and board games. He owned and operated Fashion Cleaners for many years and was an avid bingo player. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. CROCKER, Harold Arthur - 88, of Freeport, Digby Co., passed away on July 1, 2004, in Tideview Terrace, Digby. Born in Freeport, he was a son of the late Joseph and Alice (HAINES) CROCKER. He was predeceased by his wife, Vera (STEVENS), siblings, Louise, Eva, Grafton and Hilburne. He is survived by his close friend, Maureen SWIFT and several nieces and nephews. Cremation took place and a small graveside service was held July 10, 2004 at Brookside Cemetery, for family and friends. The family would like to thank Jean HAINES, Gordie and Wendy OUTHOUSE, Arden PERRY, Linda ELLIOTT, Gary STANTON, Judy STANTON, Lorraine and Frank GILLIS for being such wonderful friends to Harold over the years. JOHNSON (HANKINSON), Klara M. - 94, passed away on July 7, 2004 at Tideview Terrace after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Weymouth, Nova Scotia, on April 25, 1910. Klara was the daughter of the late George O. HANKINSON and Ella Muade HANKINSON (GATES). Klara graduated from Weymouth High School in 1927. She attended Teachers College in Truro, N.S. After teaching in Weymouth Schools, she went to Boston, Mass. to enter the New England Deaconess Hospital Nursing School. In 1943, she received her SC Degree from Boston University. She was Asst. Director of Nursing Service at the Deaconess Hospital until 1957. Klara was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter and Rebecca Lodge. She was also a member of the Riverside Baptist Church, Weymouth. She returned to Weymouth to live in 1986 and had been a resident of Tideview Terrace since 2002. Klara is survived by sister, Grace SPARKS (Harry), Springfield, MO; brother Kenneth HANKINSON (Eleanor), Weymouth, N.S. She was predeceased by her first husband, Edward G. GOVE and second husband C. Merritt JOHNSON; brothers, Scott, Tom, Curtis and George; sisters, Esther and Margaret. Visitation 2-4 & 7-9 Friday in Jayne's Funeral Home, Weymouth North. " and Hattie ( MacNAUGHTON ) WALLIS. A graduate of Norma College in Truro, her first teaching position was in Marshalltown, then Mink Cove, and later, Central Grove, where she met and married Melvin.She taught in the Island schools until her retirement from Islands Consolidated. She loved her Island home and captured its beauty in oil painting. At one time, she painted local scenes on seashells, which were sold at Digby Pines Hotel. She knew the wild flowers by name and over the years delighted her friends and relatives with her original pressed flower and hand painted greeting cards. She was associated with Freeport Baptist Church, and a member of Fairisle Rebekah Lodge. Family, students, and friends will lovingly remember her for her strength of character,sense of humor, and quiet, gentle ways. Her goodness touched many lives and she will be sadly missed.The family would like to express thanks to the staff of Tideview Terrace for their loving care.She is survived by her daughters, Constance ( Herman ) MUENZER,Clementsport; Bonnie (Jeff) WALTERS,Deep Brook;sister, Eleanor (Ken) HANKINSON, Weymouth; grandchildren,great- grandchildren,nieces, and nephews. Sheldon was in the Canadian Air Force for 30 years, retiring as a Cheif Warrant Officer. He was a civilian at CFB Cornwallis Fire Department for 14 years. He was a trained firefighter at the Digby Fire Department for seven years, avting as training officer for the department. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Leigon, Freeport. Sheldon received a merit medal from the Govenor General for saving the town of Trenton., Ont. He is survived by his wife Evelyn; son, Ronnie, Halifax; grandson Calen, Halifax; brother Donnie (Lorna), Yarmouth; sister, Marina, Digby. Born October 27, 1968, in Blacks Harbour, N.B. to Howard JOHNSTON and the late Carmelita (MaCDONALD) JOHNSTON. He is survived by his wife Tanya JOHNSTON; sons Timothy and Kyle; father Howard (Wanda) JOHNSTON; sisters Joanne JOHNSTON, Juliette "Brandy" JOHNSTON (RORY, Dartmouth; Brother, Jason (Cindy) JOHNSON, Sandy Cove; mother and father in law Eric and Sandra OUTHOUSE, Tiverton;grandfather, Albert JOHNSTON, Pennfield N.B;sister-in-law, Sherry OUTHOUSE (Sammy), Freeport. He is survived also by many aunts, uncles, neices and nephews. Kenny worked with his father-in-law "Eric" for many years as a lobster fisherman and will be sadly missed. Always willing to help his family and friends, he has left many to mourn the loss of a son, husband, father, brother and friend. the service was held in the Tiverton Baptist Church, on Sunday, with Lou Outhouse officiating. Internment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Tiverton. Family flowers only, donations to be made to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jaynes Funeral Home, Digby.

Harmony, Maine - Willard A. "Red" CROCKETT, 74, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, in Brunswick, Ga., after a short illness. Born in 1930 in Digby County, Nova Scotia, Canada, he immigrated to Waltham, Mass., during the early 1950s and worked for P.E. Burke Movers as a driver traveling the United States for many years. He drove big rigs for other companies, with a few years as a grade operator for the state of Maine. He also worked for Earl RAMSDELL, doing work for the town of York. Red retired some years ago to Harmony, Maine, and last year moved to Nahunta, Ga. He was predeceased by his father, Bill CROCKETT Sr. He leaves his beloved mother, Vesta CROCKETT of York; his children, Bill CROCKETT and his wife Val of Thomasburg, Ontario, Laura CROCKETT of Hillsboro, Ore., David CROCKETT and his wife Wrynn of Blue Ridge, Ga., Robert CROCKETT and his wife Kimberly of Nashua, and Linda and Sharon CROCKETT; his stepdaughter, Linda PRATT and her husband Chuck of Eliot; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Joan WEEKS of Melbourne, Fla., and Elizabeth KNAPP of York. CROCKETT - Willard A. "Red" CROCKETT died Sept. 12, 2004, in Georgia. Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services at 11 a.m. Thursday in the First Parish Cemetery, York. God reached down his hand and took mother HOME just before 10:00 PM, Sunday September 26, 2004. Her pain has now ceased and her suffering is over. Mother was born in Tiveton, N.S. to William and Helen COSSABOOM on August 29, 1913. She grew up and was educated in her village on the island and later graduating from the Provincial Teachers College in Truro, N.S. in 1934. She put her career on hold for almost 20 years while raising her family. She taught elementary school for 25 years in and around Digby, N.S. Many of her students and their parents fondly remember her to this day for the dedication and love she showed during her teaching career. She was predeceased by her two husbands, Smith HARDING and Reynold HAINES and her only brother Herbert COSSABOOM. Margaret is survived and will be deeply missed by her son Gary HARDING (Marlyn) of Guelph, Ontario; daughter Helen BUCK of Courtenay, B.C. and grandaughter Symone HASTINGS (Don) of Spruce Grove, Alberta. A Memorial Service will be held and Comox Valley Funeral Home & Crematorium, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 1:00 PM. Donations in Margaret's memory can be made to your favourite charity.

He was predeceased by sisters Ethel and Daisy: brothers Tom, Stanley, Arnold and a brother in infancy. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today and funeral service 2 p.m. Saturday, both in Jaynes funeral home, 7 Birch St., Digby. Interment in Brookside Cemetery, Freeport. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Digby General Hospital.
