Oliver and Laura [MELANSON] OLIVER . Surviving besides her husband is one daughter , Lois [ Mrs. Donald KRATZER ] , Fairfield CA; one son Harold , Lynn MA. The body is at the Meteghan Funeral Home, Meteghan . Funeral service will be held 10am Thursday in Stella Maris Church, Meteghan. Rev. Louis COMEAU officiating . Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

The death of Mary Amelia HOGAN occured at the Digby General Hospital on Monday April 22 . Although she had not been well for some time she was active and did her own work until the past week. Death was unexpected and a shock to her family and many friends. She was born 83 years ago and was the daughter of the late Henry WILSON and Eunice [AMERIAULT] WILSON, She lived most of her life in Weymouth, Her husband William predeceased her. Left to mourn are two daughters, Eleanor [Mrs William HENDERSON ]of Salt Spring Island BC and Alice [Mrs Dan COCKLIN] of Ottawa, Gilbert of Little Brook , William of London Ont. and Ronald at home.Also twelve grand children and three great grandchildren . For many years she was an active worker in the Red Cross and Canadian Cancer Society and was one of the well loved people in the area. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The funeral service was held from St. Joseph,s Church on Wednesday. , with interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

WILLIAM WARREN CROMWELL William Warren CROMWELL died at Digby General Hospital on April 19th . He was 84 years of age and was the son of the late Charles Thomas and Sarah CROMWELL of Danvers. His wife, Ida predeceased him in 1956 , also a daughter , two brothers, and two sisters preceased him. Left to mourn their loss are three daughters , Eleanor [Mrs Ralph CROMWELL] of Weymouth;Jean [Mrs Wentworth STEVENSON ]of Dorchester MA and Grace [Mrs Glidden CROMWELL] of Southville . Three sons, Charles of Danvers, Wilbur of New Glasgow and Clifford of Halifax.Also several grand children and great grand children. The funeral service was held from St. Mathews , Anglican Church , with Rev. Isaac BULTER officating. Pallbearers were son in law Glidden CROMWELL, Wentworth STEVENSON, grandsons Weldon and Glendon CROMWELL and sons Wilbur and Clifford.Floral offerings were many and beautiful, showing the high esteem in which he was held. Interment in the family lot.

Robert Baden POWELL, 75, of Plympton, a teacher, politician, and writer died suddenly at his home on Thursday. Born at Freeport, Digby County, he was the son of the late Byard and Celestia (GILLILAND) POWELL. Mr. POWELL lived with his parents in other communities in Digby Co. and Yarmouth and completed his High School in Yarmouth. Following his teacher�s training at the Nova Scotia Normal College, he went West and taught school in Manitoba and did writing in Alberta. Returning to Nova Scotia he did poultry farming and taught school in Ashmore, Weymouth North, and after overseas service in the Second World War, he taught in the Digby Rural High School. Returning from teaching in 1963, Mr. POWELL was elected and re-elected as MLA for Digby as Progressive Conservative member. Because of poor health Mr. POWELL did not offer for the 1970 election and devoted his time writing Scrap Book No. 1 Scrap Book II of Digby Town and Municipality, and a fictional story, Gaskill�s Cove, based on local history released in 1975. Mr. POWELL, until his death continued to gather material and prepare for another publication. Besides his wife, the former Rae HANKINSON, he is survived by two daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. W. P. TEDLIE), Oskask, Wis.; Janet (Mrs. George MUTCH), Kentville, and nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. The body was in the Weymouth Funeral Home from where the funeral service was held Sunday at 2 p.m., Rev. W. Clayton officiating. Burial was in Barton Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband Harry , one son , Paul SNOW of Digby NS[by a former marriage]one grand son Wayne and one great grand daughter, Angela.a stepson , Richard F. TITUS of Halifax, and a step daughter Mary [Mrs G.M. GRAHAM ] Halifax. She was predeceased by her first husband , Fred SNOW and one sister. Her body was at Jayne's Funeral home , Digby NS . Funeral service was held on Tuesday at 2:30 from the Digby Baptist Church, Rev. Murray SHAW conducted the service and interment was in the Baptist Cemetery , Digby. Digby Courier Thursday July 7 1977 HANTFORD LEROY WRIGHT Hantford Leroy WRIGHT of Tisdale Sask. passed away on May 23,1977 at ST.Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon , after a brief illness. Born in South Range , Digby County , Nova Scotia on March 29, 1904 he was the son of the late Barnabas and Alice [HAIGHT] WRIGHT. At an early age , he went to Sask, seeking work , after which he made his home there.For several years he owned and operated what was known as Wright's Meat Market of Tisdale. His former wife Edith CUMMINGS of Sask. predeceased him . From this marriage one son Roy of Edmonton Alberta and one daughter Donna Jean of White Horse Yukon survive him. In 1944 he married the former Eva Jane MULHOLLAND who also survives. Four sisters and one brother survivng are twin sisters Leta [Mrs Edward BOOTH ]of Kingston NS and Lisa [Mrs Harold SPENCER ] of North Range NS ;Dorothy [ Mrs Donald MCCULLOUGH] of South Range NS , Emma [Mrs Samuel BENT] of Outram NS and Carl of North Range NS. There are also three grand sons in Edmonton Alberta. He was predeceased by two brothers Perry and Chester. The late Mr. WRIGHT was a faithful and active member of St. Paul's United Church and was a choit member for years. Funeral service was held from this Church on May 26, 1977 with interment in Tisdale Cemetery.
