1970 Daniel John (Danny) LEBLANC, 57, of Yarmouth, died suddenly in Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Saturday morning. One of Town's better-known business men, he operated the Valetor Dry Cleaning on Main Street. He was also a veteran of the Neptune Fire Company and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Born in Salmon River, Digby County, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John F. LEBLANC and is survived by his wife, Viola; one son, Daniel, Montreal; two daughters, Judy (Mrs. Ralph SISCO) and Dianne (Mrs. Richard HURLBURT), both of Yarmouth; one brother, Thomas LEBLANC, Yarmouth; two sisters, Mrs Evelyn ROY and Mrs. Helen BELLIVEAU both of Lynn, Mass., and four grandchildren. The body was at Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth and funeral service was in Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 10 a. m. with interment in our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth.

Nobel Alexander MATTINSON, 81, Barton, died Wednesday at the Digby General Hospital. Born at Mount Pleasant, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late James and Minnie (DAVIS) MATTINSON. He is survived by one son, Leslie, (Tex), Barton; one grandchild; and two great- grandchildren. His wife is dead. The body is at Jayne's Funeral Home, Digby. Funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the United Church, Great Village, with Rev. McCall officiating. Burial will be in the Glenholm vault.

The funeral service will be held in the Church of God in Digby at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Baptist Cemetery, Digby.

Digby Courier Thursday 14 January 1971 Maye THURBER, 66, of Ottawa , formerly of Freeport and Halifax passed away in Ottawa on Monday Born in Freeport she was the daughter of the late Captain George Alfred and Laura[ MORREL] THURBER. In Digby , Miss THURBER had been with the law firm office of Frank Nichols. While in Halifax she was a private sectretaryfor the late Senator Gordon Fogo , then in the law firm of Burchell, Smith , Parker and Fogo. She went to Ottawa as Senator Fogo's sectretary upon his appointment as President of the National Liberal Federation. At the time of her death , she was employed as a sectretary with the firm Gowling and Henderson in Ottawa. Miss Thurber was the last of her immmediate family. Funeral service was held on Wednesday in Ottawa.

His body rested at Jayne's Funeral Home, Digby, N.S., until Tuesday when funeral was held from Rossway Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Licentiate Jackson WILLETT conducted the service, and interment was at Rossway.

FISHERMAN DROWNED IN BAY OF FUNDY Reginald JORDAN , Culloden drowned on Thursday , when the small boat from which he and two others were fishing capsized in the Bay of Fundy off Broad Cove. It has been established that Mr. JORDAN , who died as a result of drowning ,had suffered a heart attack shortly before. In the boat with Mr. JORDAN were his son Robert and Walter Ross of Culloden. Funerlal service for Mr. JORDAN were held from the Digby Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon. Mr. JORDAN ,53 was the son of the late John and Ella [AMERO] Jordan ,Plympton. He is survived by his wife , Thelma , one son Robert ,Culloden three brothers , Lovett , Brighton; Louis , BearRiver ;Ralph Alberta; three sisters Margarie [Mrs Keith RAMEY ] ,Bridgetown;Mildred [Mrs Earl MCCOLL], Port Hawkesbury and Mary [Mrs Albert SHIPLEY] New Jersey ; and one grand son. Rev. Donald ROBERTSON officiated at the funeral and burial was in the family lot at Culloden.
A second article from the Mirror Oct. 6, 1971 FISHERMAN DROWNS DIGBY Reginald JORDAN , a Culloden fisherman , drowned last Thursday west of Broad Cove after he suffered a stroke and captized the 16-foot dory he and two others were rowing. The accident occured at 1:15 pm September 30. Mr. JORDAN'S son Robert and third passenger Walter Lee ROSS , both non swimmers , saved themselves by clinging to the boat which was driven to shore by the incoming tide and an onshore wind. Dr. D.E. LEWIS of Digby made a medical examination and ordered an autopsy performed by Dr. R.B. ABEL of Middleton , who ruled that Mr. JORDAN had suffered a stroke and died due to drowning.

She was a life long member of the Anglican church. A funeral service will be held at four o'clock from the Jayne's Funeral Home, Digby. Interment in Sandy Cove Anglican Church Cemetery.

The death of Katherine Belle HANKINSON occurred at Digby General Hospital on Saturday, January 27. She was 90 years of age and was born in Burtonvale, the daughter of the late Randall and Emily (COOK) MacDONALD. After a former marriage she lived in Seattle, Wash., where she was a tailoress. Following the death of her husband she returned to Weymouth, where fourty-four years ago, she married Elijah HANKINSON, who also predeceased her. In the fall she took up residence at the Goodwin Hotel, and throughtout the winter became a patient in Digby General Hospital. Surviving are three stepchildren: Jack HANKINSON, of Wolfville; Mrs. Ted WOODMAN (Mary), of Digby; and Mrs. Baden POWELL (Rae), of Plympton. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. The body rested at Sweeney�s Funeral Home, Weymouth Rev. Willard Clayton conducted the service. Interment was in Riverside Baptist Cemetery.

Mrs. REID was predeceased by a son, Jack. Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Kentville United Church, Rev. Dr. K. G. Sullivan will officiate. Interment will be in Lakeview cemetery. Donations can be made to the Canadian Heart Foundation. The body is at the H. C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Kentville.
