John MALLETT, son of Samuel MALLETT, of Cheticamp, Digby County, fell from a staging in Horton's shipyard, a distance of fifteen feet, on the 15th June, and received such injuries to his head and other parts of the body that he was rendered speechless, in which state he continued until the next day, when he died. He was about 18 years of age.

Digby Courier 1889 Nov. 1 A well known and much respected citizen in the person of Richard STAILING passed away on Tuesday of last week , aged 74 years. Mr. STAILING , who has an elder brother of Geo. STAILING of the well known firm of Geo. STAILING & Son , removed from Carleton NB to Weymouth ,about the year 1869, where he conducted a hotel for some years. He removed from Weymouth to Digby , where he continued to reside up to the time of his death. Ha had been an invalid for some time past , suffering from dropsy, which finally caused his death . His remains were interred in the Baptist cemetery on Firday.

Digby Courier 1889 Nov. 1 The following notice of death of Mr. James P. BROWN , we extract from the evening Bulletin , published at Haverhill NA James P. BROWN died last evening at the house of his son Mr. Fred BROWN , 1951/2 Emerson St. , in the 84th year of his age. The deceased was a native of Digby , Nova Scotia and about a year ago came to this city to reside with his son, who is bookkeeper for C. H. Cox. Mr BROWN had been in ill health for some time , caused by a tumor but no serious change in his condition was noticeable before last Monday. His strength began to show a decline , but still he lingered along , not expecting any fatal result in so short a time. Death at the last was sudden and unexpected,he passed away very easily.A widow and three children mourn his departure from this life. The remains will be interred in Hilldale , Monday.
