The funeral of Mrs. EMMA FITZSIMMONS took place Monday afternoon, Oct. 21 at Kolbec, from the residence of her son-in-law, SAMUAL RUSHTON.
Interment was made in River View Cemetery, Kolbec. Rev. Mr. O'BRIEN conducting the last sad rites at the house and grave. Deceased was born at Smith's Creek, near Sydney, CB, 71 years ago. where she spent most of her girlhood days, afterwards residing at Athol, Oxford Junction and Kolbec. She is survived by 2 sons and one daughter, Mrs. SAMUEL RUSHTON and BERNARD FITZSIMMONS of Kolbec and one son FRED FITZSIMMONS resides at Winnipeg, Man and is in the employ of the Mechanical Department of Canadian Northern Railway, HULL COATES of the C.G.R. Railway Freight Staff Amherst is another son.OBIT - Pte. FRANK L. DEMINGS
The remains of Pte. FRANK L. DEMINGS, who died of pneumonia at Camp Tremont, California on Oct. 14th arrived in Pugwash on Friday, Oct. 25th.
The deceased was a son of J. ALBERT and the late ETTA ROGERS DEMINGS. Besides his father he is survived by 2 sisters, SUSAN and JESSIE of North Sydney and 2 brothers, WILLIAM and FRED of New Glasgow.
The late Pte. DEMINGS left Pugwash about 8 years ago for the Canadian West. He was employed for a time in British Columbia after which he made 2 trips to Alaska. He then went to San Francisco where he was employed as an iron worker in the mills there. The body was sent home by the American Government. Sergeant COHEN of the American Army accompanying it to its destination.
The funeral was held on Saturday at 3:30 pm. Rev. M.G.B. WHITMAN officiating. The remains were laid beside those of his mother who passed away some years ago.OBIT - WILLIAM KING
A very sad death took place at Pugwash Point on Monday night, Oct. 28th when WILLIAM, eldest son of OLIVER and FLORENCE KING passed away, at the early age of 17 years, after a few day's illness of influenza followed by pneumonia. Much sympathy is felt for Mr. & Mrs. KING and family in their double bereavement, they having lost their eldest daughter by death only a few weeks ago.**OBIT - Mrs. E.P. ELLIOTT
The death occurred at Truro, Oct. 22nd of HARRIET, wife of E. PEARL ELLIOTT, formerly of Pugwash leaving her husband, one daughter HARRIETT and 2 sons, FRANK and GEORGE.
The deceased is also survived by, her father and mother, Mr. & Mrs. A. M. RENN_of Truro. 3 sisters ad 2 brothers,

Friends in Springhill and adjacent districts will be grieved to learn that the late pastor of the Baptist Church there, Rev. H. PERCY EVERETT, M.A. has succumbed to the prevailing epidemic. He had labored for 3 years at Dauphin, Manitoba and returned East to his parents home, accompanied by his wife, about 2 weeks ago. It was his purpose to cast in his lot with us in the Maritimes. He was stricken with the grippe on the evening following his arrival at home and passed away on Friday evening, 25th at the early age of 30 years. He was in his usual health but the dread disease put in its deadly work and no efforts could save the precious life. He was a man of cultured mind and excellent ability as preacher and pastor. He gave promise of great usefulness in the church and in the world.OBIT - Corporal CHESTER SLACK
The sad news has reached the home of Mr. & Mrs. M.P. SLACK that their son, Corporal CHESTER SLACK has made the Supreme Sacrifice on Oct. 1st.
The young hero went overseas early in the war and has been in "Active Service, Somewhere in France". His twin brother, HAROLD was Killed in Action in June 1917.
Their oldest brother BURGESS has been a Prisoner of War in Germany since April 1915.FRANK CAMERON of Parrsboro, a bank clerk for a time in Middleton died on Saturday in Charlottetown of influenza and pneumonia. His brother, Pte. BLAIR CAMERON was KILLED IN ACTION on Sept. 30th.
OBIT - Mrs. WILLIAM ETTER
The Journal learned with regret of the death of pneumonia of Mrs. WILLIAM ETTER, on Wednesday, at the home of her parents, Mr. & Mrs. R.B. BAXTER, River Philip. Mrs. ETTER was a bright and winsome disposition and her death at such an early age is a sorrow to the relatives and many friends. She also leaves a husband and infant baby. The funeral will be held this Thursday afternoon at 3:30 pm.Mr. & Mrs. JOSEPH AUSTEN of East Leicester have been sadly afflicted by the cruel war. About a week ago they received the sad news that their son, NOBLE had Died of Wounds. Since then word has come that another son ALEX had been Killed in Action. The sorrowing parents have the sympathy of many friends in the taking away of their estimable sons, who nobly enlisted and gave their lives for their country.

At. St. John, of influenza, HARRY McLEAN, son of Mr. & Mrs. J.R. McLEAN of Springhill.At Highland View Hospital, on Oct. 23rd, Mrs. A.R. McDONALD of Parrsboro, Aged 55 years.
At sea on Oct. 17th, Lieut R. PEARSON of the 2nd Tank Battalion of pneumonia, formerly of Melvern Square, aged 28 years. He was at one time principal of the Pugwash school.

At the home of Mr. W. H. HEWSON, Oxford on Wednesday, Oct. 30th, WILLIAM A. MOIR of Halifax and Miss JEANETTE THOMPSON of Oxford. The ceremony was performed by Pastor J.W. O'BRIEN.
