Pte. CHANCEY BROWNELL Killed at Firing Line word was received from Ottawa that C. E. BROWNELL has been killed in action.

The telegram reads

To Miss NELLIE BROWNELL,
Oxford, N.S.
13171 deeply regret to inform you 161193 Pte. EDWARD BROWNELL, Infantry, officially reported killed in action, Aug. 10th, 1918.

Official telegrams have been received that LOGAN JOHNSON, son of Mr. & Mrs. COREY JOHNSON and HUGH HEFFERS, also of this town , had been wounded in action LOGAN's injury being in his leg.

The sad news has been received that Private ARTHUR MILLER, a son of Mr. & Mrs. RUFUS MILLER of this town, was killed in action in France on Aug. 8th. Private MILLER was married and at the time he enlisted in the 85th Battalion resided at Folleigh Lake.

On Aug. 23rd to Mr. & Mrs. HARVEY FENTON, Collingwood, a daughter.

On Aug. 22nd to Mr. & Mrs. WESLEY RIPLEY, Williamsdale, a daughter.

MARRIED
At the home of the bride's parents, Mr. & Mrs. HIBBERT R. WOOD, River Hebert, on Wednesday, Aug. 21st, ALETTA MAUD to ALFRED RAYNER JOWETT of River Hebert.
Revs. A. J. McLEOD and C. L. GESNER officiated.

DIED
At Parrsboro, on Aug. 11th, CHAS. LOVELY, aged 53 years.

EXECUTRIX's NOTICE
All accounts owning the estate of the late STEPHEN COLBURN of Oxford Jct., should be rendered to same at once to Mrs. CAROLINE COLBURN, sole executrix.

DIED
MELNOR P. RIPLEY, a former resident of Williamsdale, died at home of his son IRA at Collingwood on Saturday evening, and was buried at Methodist Cemetery, Williamsdale, age 68 years. He leaves a widow and family of 5 children. Rev. L. E. G. DAVIES, conducted the service.
Mr. RIPLEY is a brother of JAMES and WILLIAM RIPLEY of River Philip and Westchester.

DIED
At Wentworth Center, on Sunday, Aug. 11th, ALICE C., wife of T. M. OGILVIE, Esq., age 54 years after an illness of 3 years.


MARRIED
Economy, The scene of a very pretty wedding at 2 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 7th when the 2nd when ERMA RETA, daughter of GEORGE McLAUGHLIN became the bride of Mr. STANLEY EWART ARCHIBALD of Truro. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. HARTLEY, pastor of the Baptist
Church, Truro.

DIED - Killed in Action
GRAY McPHERSON of Conns Mills who has been serving in France, is reported as having been killed in action. He leaves a widowed mother.
JOHN, PERCY and JAMES McPHERSON are brothers.

MARRIED
Mrs. HENRY MOORING of Collingwood was a visitor at the Journal office last Saturday. She informed us that her nephew, Pte. HUGH McKINNON, was safe from the charms of the Oxford girls, having succumbed to the wiles of a Scotch lassie, the marriage taking place on May 8th last.
Pte. McKINNON is now employed in a saw mill in England.

**DIED
The death occurred at East Amherst last week of Mrs. W. W. TRENHOLM at the age of 83 years. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. THOMAS WOOD, Port HOWE, one daughter, Mrs. F. C. WOOD, Amherst, also 2 sons, EDGAR of New York and
D. E. of East Amherst. The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon from the residence of her son, D. E. TRENHOLM of East Amherst.

MARRIED
A very pretty wedding was solemnized at the home of Mr. & Mrs. MORTON WARD of ADVOCATE, N.S. on Tuesday, August 20th, when their niece, NEMA CECELIA was united in marriage to JOHN REGINALD NUTTALL of Salem, N.S.
The ceremony, which was conducted by Rev. A. M. ANGUS, at the hour of 7:30 o'clock was exceptionally beautiful and impressive.
