OBIT - ALEX McDONALD
The news of the death of ALEX McDONALD, Esq. Town Clerk of the Town of Oxford and Justice of the Peace, which occurred on Friday evening caused a feeling of sadness to many friends. Mr. McDONALD came to Oxford in the early building time of this town and has been identified with its interests. He was appointed Justice of the Peace and served as Representative of the Oxford District in the Municipal Council, after Oxford was Incorporated. Mr. McDONALD was chosen as Town Clerk, which position he held with much credit to himself and with efficient care for the finances of the Corporation. The funeral service took lace on Sunday afternoon, a large number of people gathering at his late residence, Rev. Mr. MITCHELL has charge of the service, assisted by Rev. Mr. HAYDEN. The choir of the Presbyterian Church of which the deceased was a member led in the singing of the hymns Jesus Lover of My Soul and Rock of Ages. The floral tributes were beautiful wreaths from the Town Government and The Oxford School Staff.

After the service, the procession formed in which the Town Council and others in a carriage and Mystic Tie Lodge members took their positions. The lodge held their burial service over their departed brother at Pine Grove Cemetery.
