The United Baptist Church at Millvale was reopened on October 13, after extensive repairs to the building.

Thursday, October 23, 1930

Lower Thomson was visited by a terrible fire on October 12, which was not brought under control until the recent rain. The surrounding district being without water made firefighting very difficult and water was hauled from brooks to protect buildings. The fire burned valuable timber land in Thomson, Millvale and Greenville, endangered the properties of Mrs. Mae MACDONALD, Jack DEMINGS, Sterling MACDONALD, Jacob MOORING, and Stanley STONEHOUSE.

Died at Oxford on October 17, Beverley Jean HILLS, 4-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Hills.

Died at Wallace on October 15, Mrs. Jessie M. BATTYE, aged 84 years, widow of Fred Battye, who at one time was manager of the Wallace stone quarry.
