*Mrs. J. A. ASH attended the funeral of her granddaughter Miss ADA LEWIS at Norton, NB last week.

**OBIT - ROBERT W. SIMPSON
Mr. ROBERT W. SIMPSON, the oldest resident and one of the pioneers in the settlement of Mount Pleasant died at his old home on Sunday, 21st, aged 90 years.

The surviving family are 5 sons, JAMES, W. River, WRIGHT and THOMAS -Idaho, CHARLES and ARTHUR of Mount Pleasant
and 3 daughters Mrs. SMITH of Lowell, Mass.

Mrs. MILLS of Rockley and Mrs. MATTINSON.
The funeral on Tuesday was conducted by Rev. W. J. WRIGHT in the presence of many relatives and friends who gathered for the occasion.
The pall bearers were FRANK McDONALD, LAWRENCE SIMPSON, JAMES DICKIE and WILLARD KING. The burial was at Birch Grove Cemetery.

DIED
At Advocate, April 18th Capt. DEWIS of Advocate, aged 74 years.

At Shinimicas, March 25th, Mrs. MARY BURNS, aged 85 years.

At Parrsboro, on Saturday, April 20th, EDWARD DINGLE, aged 71 years.
GEORGE and ALEX DINGLE of Pugwash are brothers.

MARRIED
Westchester, April 8th by Rev. G. ROBINSON, ARTHUR W. RUSHTON, Westchester, to MABEL HANSON, Londonderry.

KILLED
M. W. KIRWAN, a cadet of the Royal Flying Corps was instantly killed at Forth Worth, Texas, on the 8th. He was a son of ex-Councillor FRANK KIRWAN of Wallace, N.S.

MISSING
Many friends of Mrs. RICHARD BARTON and family of Pugwash will deeply regret that Private A. O. BARTON, who has been nobly serving his country in France, is reported missing.

Mr. T. A. GAETZ of Red Deer, Alberta who has been attending the Retail Merchants Convention at Ottawa, is in town, spending a few days with his sisters, Mrs. T. W. McLELAN and Mrs. GEORGE S. OXLEY.

OBIT - CARL DEMINGS
One of the very sad deaths occurring during the past week was that of CARL DEMINGS, son of Mrs. RUTH DEMINGS of River Philip. CARL was a manly, industrious young man who would be 21 years of age had he lived until September. He returned home from the Canadian Northwest on Dec and working with Conn & Higgs in their mill at Loganville until April, when he went to Amherst to work at Robb's Eng. Co and was boarding at R. S. TAYLOR's restaurant until he had a house ready when he and his wife would start housekeeping. After being three days in Amherst he was stricken with pneumonia and taken to Highland View Hospital, when he passed away on Monday morning, the 15th inst. after one weeks illness. His mother and wife were with him until the end and the heartfelt sympathy of all goes out to the widowed mother and the young wife in their great sorrow.

The remains were brought to his home and the funeral services conducted by Rev. L. E. G. DAVIES on Thursday afternoon. Mr. DAVIES performed his marriage ceremony less than one year ago to Miss MADELINE PURDY, adopted daughter of SYDNEY PURDY, Esq. of Oxford.
The remains were laid to rest in the pretty cemetery at Millvale beside his father. Mrs. DEMINGS has one son GUY, overseas, DARRELL in Amherst, and one daughter GRACE at home to mourn the loss of a dear son and brother. Mrs. DEMINGS's Uncle Mr. TAYLOR, died on Wednesday.

**OBIT - ANTHONY TAYLOR
Mr. ANTHONY TAYLOR of Williamsdale passed to rest on Wednesday afternoon aged 80 years. He was in fairly good health and planning on going to Boston this summer to visit his daughters, but was stricken with paralysis on Friday evening and remained unconscious until he passed away. He was residing with his brother-in-law, Mr. JOSEPH HIGGS, Collingwood at the time of his death and was attended by Miss FIELDS trained nurse of Oxford Jct. His daughters BLANCH (Mrs. REEVES) and EDITH (Mrs. SHERBURN) arrived from Boston on Wednesday morning.

MABEL (Mrs. McKINNON) is in Colorado, and only son FRANK was killed in the mines at Fernie BC some years ago and his wife predeceased him by several years.
Mr. TAYLOR was a son of MICHAEL TAYLOR, who settled in Williamsdale about 105 years ago (at the same time as ELEAZER STONEHOUSE and GEO. O. JOHNSON all of English Ancestry) his mother being a sister of the late Wm. JACKSON, Sr. An only brother, THOS died 2 years ago, also aged 80 years. One sister is still living , Mrs. Geo. MATHESON, Williamsdale East.

About 18 years ago Mr. TAYLOR sold his farm here and bought a nice property at Port Howe, but after family went to the US, Mr. & Mrs. TAYLOR sold out and went to Providence, RI, where they resided until her death.
The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. L. E. G. DAVIES interment will be at Wyvern, Cumb Co. N.S.

OBIT - WALTER T. ANGUS
WALTER T. ANGUS successful farmer, passed away at his home at Lower Shinimicas on Sunday, April 14th, aged 52 years. He leaves wife ( a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. DOW McKENNIE, East Leicester) and 2 sons and a daughter to mourn their loss. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon, the Presbyterian Minister of the district officiating. There were a large number who gathered to pay their last respects to the departed.

OBIT - ROBERT McLEAN
ROBERT McLEAN, aged 44 years died from pneumonia at the Victoria General Hospital on Saturday. He was a native of Ontario. Some years ago he married Miss BERNICE, daughter of Mr. THOMPSON REID of Little River, who survives her husband. They have recently resided in Sydney.
The funeral occurred on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. P. R. HAYDEN officiating. The burial took place at Little River Cemetery.

OBIT - Mrs. A. W. MURRAY
Amherst, NS April 17th - After a lingering illness, borne with great patience and Christain faith, the death occurred this morning of Mrs. A. W. MURRAY, at her home, 20 Summer Street. The late Mrs. MURRAY was formerly Miss DICKIE of Oxford, and lived in Amherst for many years.
Her death will be deeply regretted by a wide circle of friends.

OBIT - JAMES D. McDONALD
The death of Mr. JAMES McDONALD which occurred at his home West Pugwash on Sunday 14th inst removes one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of this vicinity. The late R. McDONALD was born at Tatamagouche, 83 years ago and was a son of the late DUNCAN and NELLIE DEWAR McDONALD. The survivors are ISABELLA, wife of JOHN A. DEMINGS, Springhill, LAVINIA, wife of JAMES W. CHISHOLM, Oxford; MARY, of Springhill; and DUNCAN of Pugwash.

Mr. McDONALD's marriage took place 45 years ago to MARGARET KENNEDY, daughter of the late WILLIAM and ANNIE KENNEDY, Port Philip. From this union there was a family of 3; ANNIE and DUNCAN living at home and son who died in infancy.

The funeral was held on Wednesday, Rev. J. R. MILLAR, of St. Mathew's Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment was made in the Pugwash Cemetery. The pall bearers were CHAS. CUMMINGS, STANLEY SMITH, FRANK WOODLOCK and JOHN BURNSIDE.

WEDDING - JOHNSON - CROFT
At the Digby Methodist Church, on the 10th inst. Miss LULU, only
daughter of Rev. and Mrs. W. I. CROFT to Pte. THOMAS JOHNSON. Pte THOMAS JOHNSON was formerly of the 209th Battalion and recently returned from overseas; Mr. & Mrs. JOHNSON left for Saskatoon, Sask. where they will in future reside. The bridegroom has but recently returned from France having been wounded at Vimy Ridge and is no longer able to perform active military duties. He is returning to the regular work of the Methodist Ministry and has a pastorate near Saskatoon - The Wesleyan.
