OBIT - EDWARD BINNEY FAIRBANKS
The news of the death of Mr. FAIRBANKS, which occurred very suddenly at Campbellton was received here on Saturday and came as a shock to many friends in this county and especially in Springhill, where for many years he was Manager of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. He afterwards was transferred to Campbellton.

Mr. FAIRBANKS was the son of the late LOUIS PIERS FAIRBANKS of Halifax and was about 50 years of age. A man of sterling personal qualities and most attractive personality. He spent his entire adult life in banking and his record throughout was one of signal efficiency and faithfulness. In religious belief he was a Presbyterian.
He married a daughter of the late Col & Mrs. Wm. OXLEY of Oxford, who with 3 children, 2 sons & 1 daughter, survive him.
The remains were brought to this town and the funeral service was held at the residence of Mrs. Wm. OXLEY, being conducted by Rev. DONALD McCREA of Springhill assisted by Rev. G.S. MITCHELL.
The floral tributes were very beautiful. Friends of the deceased from Springhill acted as pallbearers, the interment being in the OXLEY lot in Pine Grove Cemetery.

OBIT - Mrs. JESSIE REID
After a lingering illness of many weeks, JESSIE REID, relict of the late JOHN REID of Wentworth passed peacefully to her eternal rest on Saturday, July 18th, at the residence of her son, A.W. GRAHAM.
This lady was the daughter of the late JOHN McKENZIE of Dalhousie, Pictou Co., N.S. and is the 3rd member of that family to pass beyond within the year. One sister remains, Mrs. JANE MURRAY of Ryegate, Montana.
The deceased was twice married and leaves to mourn the loss of a loving mother, 4 daughters and 3 sons.

The funeral service took place on Monday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. W.H. WATTS, the deceased being a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. After the service at the home, the remains were conveyed to New Annan and laid beside those of her late husband. Rev. JAMES FITZPATRICK officiated at the grave.
Beautiful floral tributes came from children and grandchildren and the memory of this estimable woman will long remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

The body of Mrs. WARREN, eldest daughter of JEDSON STEVENS and wife was interred in the Baptist Cemetery near the Milvale Church Sunday the 12th inst. She left 3 children, the youngest about a month old. A husband, brother and sisters and parents are mourning their loss.

RUBY DUNCAN, youngest daughter of Mr.& Mrs. DUNCAN, Hansford, came from the U.S. a short time ago. The illness that caused her to return to her home proved fatal. Her remains were interred in Pine Grove Cemetery on the 19th inst. She became a member of the Presbyterian Church when Mr. BRITTON was minister here. Her parents and others are grieving that she had to be taken from them. This is one of the inserutable incidents that occur.

Miss TILLIE GORDON of Biddeford, Maine is the guest of Mr. & Mrs. A.B. FILLMORE.

Mr.& Mrs. H. ETTER, will leave for their home, Alameda, Cal after spending a month with their niece, Mrs. P.K. McDONALD and other relatives in this province.

OBIT - Miss RUBY V. DUNCAN
The sad intelligence of Miss RUBY V. DUNCAN's death in East Hansford Friday morning, July 17th at 11 o'clock was received with general felling of sorrow. Miss DUNCAN was employed as a stenographer at Russell, Ontario until her health became impaired and she came home to recuperate. She was seized with Tuberculosis, which terminated fatally after 7 weeks illness, declining steadily and to those who anxiously watched over and tenderly cared for her, her death came not unexpectedly. She bore her illness with Christian fortitude and the deceased was the youngest daughter of Mr. & Mrs. JAMES DUNCAN of Hansford and at the time of her death was 22 years of age. She was a young lady of gentle refinement and her genial and affectionate nature endeared her to her family and friends who will greatly miss her presence in the home and in the community. Her death is a great grief and irreparable loss to her parents, one brother OSCAR W. in Boston, 6 sisters,

The service was held at her late home at 1:30 o'clock last Sunday afternoon, Rev. Mr. WATTS officiating and was largely attended by relatives and friends whose high esteem and sympathy found expression in the profusion of floral tributes. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery.

OBIT - CHARLES BENT
Mr. CHARLES BENT who has been ill at home since the accident at the Black River Bridge her some weeks ago passed away on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, age 79 years.
Mr. BENT has been a familiar figure on our streets and with his son GEORGE was the largest grower of cranberries, possibly in Cumberland County. In his younger years he was an active member of the Militia. He was a crack shot and made 2 trips to England, as a member of the Bisley team and won several valuable prizes, among them an organ at a shooting competition in Halifax.
He was twice married, his last wife, Miss FANNIE LEWIS, dying in 1903.

The funeral service was held on Sunday afternoon, his pastor, Rev. M. MITCHELL officiating. The burial took place at Pine Grove Cemetery.

WEDDING BELLS - DREGER - MacKILLOP
Knox manse was the scene of a quiet wedding on the evening of Tuesday, June 30th when Miss ALICE MacKILLOP, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. ROBERT MacKILLOP, 51 First St. S.W. was married to ADOLPH F. DREGER of Edmonton. The bride was married in her traveling suit of blue serge with a white panama hat trimmed with blue mount. She was attended by her sister, Miss JENNIE MacKILLOP, who wore a garnet silk dress and cream hat.
Mr. JAMES SMEE assisted the groom and the ceremony performed by Rev. E. McGOUGAN, M.A. of Knox Church.
Mr. & Mrs. DREGER left on the evening train for Calgary and other southern points. On their return they will make their home in Edmonton. -- Edmonton Paper.

Mr. CHARLES E. LOCKHART of Cocagne, N.B. and party motored to Oxford on Monday. Mr. LOCKHART is spending a few weeks with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. H.B. LOCKHART of East Leicester.

At 44 Charles St. Amherst on Friday, July 17th to Mr. & Mrs. TWEEDIE TRERICE, a daughter.

Mr. CHARLES E. LOCKHART of Cocagne, N.B. and party motored to Oxford on Monday. Mr. LOCKHART is spending a few weeks with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. H.B. LOCKHART of East Leicester.

At 41 Charles St. Amherst on Friday, July 17th to Mr. & Mrs. TWEEDIE TRERICE, a daughter.

Mrs. F.H. SPINNEY of Boston and her little granddaughter AMELIA CATTEN of Belmont, Mass are spending the summer with Mr. & Mrs. A.H. SPICER.

Mr. & Mrs T.G. McMULLEN announce the engagement of their daughter JESSIE ALLISON to Mr. HOLLY A. TUTTLE of Pugwash. The wedding will take place the middle of August at The Cedars, Truro, N.S.

Mr. ALONZO RIPLEY, who has been visiting his parents Mr. & Mrs. JOHN RIPLEY returned to his home in Attleboro, Mass.

Pugwash
An estimable young lady passed away Friday morning, 17th inst. At the Highland View Hospital, Amherst in the person of ANNIE LOCKHART, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. JAMES LOCKHART of this town. Miss LOCKHART, who was in her 21st year had been in indifferent health for some months.

Death followed an operation at the hospital where she had gone for treatment. The funeral was held on Monday, Rev. G.W. WHITMAN being the officiating clergyman. The casket was covered with flowers among them being a beautiful anchor from the boys and girls of this town.
