OXFORD JOURNAL NEWS

Oxford, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia

Wednesday March 15, 1899

Married at Wallace March 8th, by Rev. D.A. Crane, EDWARD REEVES and PRICILLIA REEVES, both of Wallace Grant.

The residence of ANGUS HINGLEY, I understand will be the scene of a quiet wedding today, when MISS GUSSIE FRIZZLE and Mr. DUNN, station agent, Maccan will be united in marriage.

Sudden death on a train. A young lady MARGARET M. RYAN, daughter of one of the sectionmen of Port Phillip boarded the short line train from Pictou last Sat at Brown's Point and before Scotsburn was reached fell back in her seat dead. She had been ailing for sometime but no thoughts were entertained as to her being in such a critical state.

We hear that a man by the name of CANFIELD, a tinsmith of Wallace, while attempting to cross the harbour on Sunday evening himself, horse & sleigh went through the ice and both were drowned.

RUFUS GOODWIN was born at Tidnish (near Baie Verte), Westmorland Co. NB and died at the residence of his brother in law, Mr. S. KINNEAR, in Moncton on the 6th March 1899, in the 72nd year of his age.

The remains of Mrs. TUTTLE, wife of Rev. G. TUTTLE were interred in the cemetery here last Sat.
